Some time ago Pele asked me to show you this series I shot last July of a tufted titmouse fledgling. We all know that most baby birds spread or flutter their wings and open their mouths wide to get the attention of the parent with the worm, and titmice are no exception, but what do you do if that isn't enough?

Here is an incident I witnessed at the seed feeder. I always found the titmouse to be a timid, flighty sort of bird, but as you will see, they do stand their ground, at least against a house finch.

Thank you so much for posting all these pics! I've never seen a Titmouse fledgling (and we've been feeding the birds every day of every year since December 2000). He/she was so adorable and so cute in all your pics! I loved (and laughed) them all! So beautiful and sweet is the Titmouse!
