I'm bringing this over from another thread
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/811458/
since we got terribly off topic!
If you're from St. L: What school did you go to? ; )
I went to Mary Institute, but please don't hate me for it!
I am not your typical Mary I. girl!
I married a Mary girl or at least her name is Mary.
i went to Bishop DuBourg, the co-ed Catholic high school of St. Louis.
i always thought it was interesting that a student could be expelled for getting married, but not for having a baby - strange attitude for the Catholic church...
We girls had uniforms - i will never wear "maroon" again. The boys just had a dress code. We loobied for the same dress code, but it was long past my graduation before that came to pass. But Catholic girls learned to accessorize then! We could only have one button undone on our white shirts - normal people mostly leave the top 2 open, right? But only a couple of (male) teachers would give demerits for it. i got in trouble for suggesting that if they didn't spend so much time looking at the girl's chests, they probably wouldn't notice!

LOL You are a firecracker!
We had a dress code that got more and more lax, so it wasn't that bad. But we did have May Day, a dance 'celebration' of spring, performed by several different groups of girls, and the climax (pun intended) was when the senior class would do a may pole dance in their virginal white dresses!! We spent a whole gym class learning how to bow/curtsy properly to the audience. VITAL information in the real world ; )
i don't know if people are recognizing the title of the thread...
owell.
So, what part of IL are you in now? Is it near Chicago?
Hey, our own private little forum!
I'm in the suburbs north of Chicago, but I'm downtown all the time. My best friend lives in Dogtown, so I go down there frequently to visit. Especially in April when the azaleas are exploding at Shaw's Garden! (Another sign of a true St. Louisan- still calling it Shaw's Garden).
How did you end up in CT? Do you go back to St. L often?
Not often enough.
Check out the Valentine Stories thread on the NE Forum for a long tale of how i got to the east coast..!
i grew up on S. Kingshwy between Gravois and Chippewa, and for my last 7 or 8 years in STL i lived on Wyoming, 1/2 E of Grand. Lots of good food. My car was stolen twice there the last year - no joke...
Here's a link to what i'm up to now:
