Best Priced Computers (national chain?)

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Anyone buy a computer recently, or can suggest the best national chain for pricing to buy one? Thinking Circuit City or Best Buy are the best bets?

Sad but funny that I'd suggest Circuit City without knowing just one year later they'd be closing their doors.

I shopped two months ago and what I discovered about those stores is that they advertise the good priced machines, but don't have the best priced ones on the shelves. I was in BB and the salesman would walk by, see me looking at the samples, and just say "We don't have it in stock." My point being that you shouldn't rely on their print ads. Also note that they won't match the website price in the store. It was all too much hassle and ended up buying online from a manufacturer. Good luck.

It wasn't for me and a solution was found. Quite the find from one of the big chains to! No, they don't stock it out in the open *wink* but a call ahead ensured they had the ads computer. Often we find that a print-out of the website price will be honored at the store.

That's good. Even at the time I wondered whether they were so aggressive about telling me they were out of stock because they wanted to get me to buy something more expensive.

It's good that you take a printout with you. There were stories in the press about how they had computers in the store setup to a fake website with higher prices, in case people tried to compare from the store.

Woah, that's so crooked!

I hate the pushy salesmen. You do have to go in intent in mind with exactly the product you want.
