North Texas Fall Round Up, Saturday October 18th 2008.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't know what's going on here, and I don't think I want to...as with every event we would all LOVE to be at each and every one of them, there are just too many extenuating (sp) circumstances in everyone's lives to make this feasible...maybe we need to have one the end of May in a central location ...why don't we all check into that.

Very, very well said Cocoa. That is exactly what I've been thinking but not able to put into words. Before, there was NO East Texas RU, so people drove a great distance from here to be able to join one. Now that East Texas is having one regularly, there will be some that will stay within their region and some that choose to go to both. You really said it well that this is "growing pains" with DG RU's expanding into different regions that some of the events will tend to be more localized.

I just look at it as more dates, more options, more people able to make at least one RU :0)

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

You know what??? I say let these sweet girls that work their BUTTS off.. to enable us to get together have the ONLY say!! All we do is come and enjoy the fruits of their great labors... if we can make it.. GREAT.. if we can't.... maybe next year...
Phyllis... you wanna kick butt?? hehe.. come on.. mine needs arranging..LOL I bet ya'll are getting dmails or something.. hey.. YOU are in charge.. maybe it wasn't supposed to be( at the JRU), but you took the bull by the horns.. and got er done!! Right?? I really TY soo much.. it was a great day had by all!!.. AND.. you go ahead and let that sub. expire.. I know where you live!!.. well.. I have friends that know where you live!!

and 11th for the Jacksonville...

NOW... everybody.... ROTF...LOL... be glad we are alive!!

( ya'll still love me??)

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis, if you let your subscription expire, I'm gonna come plant bamboo on your place!! I don't know anything about this East Texas Roundup, but I sure hope you can make it to Arlington in October. Didn't you just organize a swap in June? And now you're doing it again? You're crazy! Don't overload yourself lady! (~; I'm gonna follow Sylvia's advice, now!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

O.K. Everybody, the pavilion has been reserved at Randol Mill park for October 18th as originally planned.
Josephine.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yeah!!! Thank you Josephine!!!

I thank you ETX ladies for your input, I am sure we will all enjoy ourselves in our area, but would love to have any DGer join us. I went to the Jacksonville RU and you did a super job Phyllis. I hope to come again this fall to the JRU; but I will definately make the one in my area (Arlington) and do the bulk of my trades there. The park Josephine booked in Arl. is all shaded by trees with picnic tables and a pavillion. Parking was very close and very well attended by DGers near and far. I hope some of you will carpool and come up even if you don't have trades.

I would also love to invite others from this area that wants to, ride down (6 plant each limit), and visit at the Tyler RU. We can load up all the orphans we have room for on the way back! Then we can trade them in Arlington! LOL!

Becky, the one little tree with leaves is still the same, the ones with no leaves no change, but I haven't given up on them yet. The Brazos mint is doing fine and the other plant we couldn't ID is o.k. too.
Thank you very much.
Josephine.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

doing well in OK, and praying hard that I can make the RU, without plants this year with all the changes and still not having some soil of my own again...

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Don't make me come up there and drag you all the way to the swap, Mitch! You have to come get your plant fix!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Mitch, maybe you can carpool with Ted, that would make it easier for both of you. You know that you don't have to have plants to come, just call it a visit with your friends.
When do you foresee having a place for plants? I hope it is in the near future.
Josephine.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I do toooo... so many seeds here and little pots just bursting at the seams... I hope this fall sometime I will have a place once they send us out to a church for sure.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

That would be wonderful Mitch, we will hope and pray that it happens soon.

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

Mitch...what are you doing in OK?! I'm so out of "the loop"! That's ok tho, I've been busy with good things. :) I'm coming just to hang out. IF I bring anything it will be something that's been drought tolerant and survived this sun and heat. Come on rain!!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Finishing things up to become a pastor... I should have a church of my own here before the year is out.

Dallas, TX

Wow Mitch ... That was fast! sooo you are coming down to Arlington ... I cant wait to see you. Bring me a nice rock from OK....about the size of a fist.Did you know I collect rocks too?

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow Mitch, I had no idea you weren't teaching any more. I guess they are both a "calling". Good luck!

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Mitch! I'm so glad you're coming!

We've missed you on the forum. Being an Okie doesn't mean you can't chat with us! :)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

That is right Pattie, he has been absent too much.

Wow, Mitch. You've accomplished so much in a year! Congrats, I'm hoping you get a church like the one in Waxahachie :0) and see you at the RU!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Thank you all of you - I cannot wait to be there myself... have not been on Daves much with the move and all but hope to get back into the swing of things soon.

Mitch

Dallas, TX

Wow Mitch, you are right there in the big city! I would not mine going to OCO too So get something going! lol
Mitch you are in a great zone to grow Hostas too;) Dmail me email address so I can put you on my list.:)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello Guys, I guess we are not as talkative as the east Texas bunch yet, so I thought I would give this thread a little push.
Josephine.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I am just mesmerized by the rain we are getting right now...glorious rain!

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh how I wish.........rain?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

We MAY get a few showers from the action down south they say. Pray!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Okay, Josephine,

I'll help push the thread. I've taken off work, reserved my hotel room and plotted my trip ...I even went on GE and looked at the park. Oh, yeah, I'm ready. Tee hee. It's 105 now here (and has been about that for a week) and I am ready for some fall (or at least some decent temps).

Now, what to bring?? I have a lot of maybes potted up, some other things I think just need a good home because they do not like it here, ( or is it just me that gets these plants that don't die but don't really grow? :) I figure they'll be happier in Texas. And there are some seeds to be collected soon and some clumps divided soon. Notice I didn't name anything??

And what do I need to do for bringing food? I do love to cook/bake, so let me know on that.
merpeg... Peg

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

tell me about it Kim... I am soo happy for the rain, even though we didn't get but about 1". My car thermometer said it was 75 degrees.. now I can live with that!!..lol.. course tomorrow we'll be back to normal....
Yeah Josephine.. whats with that?? guess there are more chatty cathys on the E TX thread...hehehe.. wait until we start listing what we have.. then we'll have trouble getting on... well.. us dial ups will...

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello Peg, I am very glad you have your trip arranged and everything.
As far as what to bring, whatever you have in the way of plants is just fine, even nothing is just fine, your presence will be just great, also there are always many of us with plants to be given away, so don't worry about the plants and bring what works for you.
As far as food and other details we will be will be posting threads about all those things as we get closer, sometimes if we start trading too soon it gets tiring after a while, so we like to keep it fresh and interesting, but don't hesitate to ask questions if you have any.
Josephine.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm very excited! But I will be more excited when it cools off and I can see what I'll have to share. Right now it's all I can do to keep the established things alive.

Peg, still glad you're coming! I can't wait to meet you. :)
