A female Common Redpoll.

The Redpolls are finally starting to come down to my feeders. The Birch trees have been loaded with seeds this year, and the Redpolls have been feeding 60 feet up in the tree tops.

This little girl was warming herself in the sun.

tiger, your Mountain Chickadee looks a lot like our Long-tailed Tit. One was hopping along the roadside hedge today a few feet from me, but most shots were overexposed when I managed to get it in the open. The sun was glaring over the tree tops. This one's not too bad.

A Blue Tit near the top of a tree cleaning it's beak, it looks to be getting new feathers.

It looks like it had had a bath too, kept shaking it's feathers.

I got some better shots of the Tree Sparrow, it's a bit like a Wren with it's small stuck up tail.

It has two white bands on the wing.

The Tree Sparrow is red status here, the population decreased by 85% a few years ago. They prefer to feed on small grass seeds, farming practices are said to be one of the main culprits which people are working on to reverse. They're not supposed to live in close contact with people here, but my neighbour has a feeder next to the hedge and shrubbery there which they seem to like.

Pelle & tigerlily, I have Chickadee envy! Please keep posting as many as you can. My Dad passed away this past year and we shared the love of birds. Lots of our phone conversations were about the birds we saw each day. Chickadees were his favorite.
Grasmussen, wow! Love those shots of the Redpoll. Outstanding!! The light and setting are so very beautiful.
Wallaby, I’m in love with your birds! I love the ones of the bush tit  It always makes me think they are saying “I love my branch” when they are cleaning their bills.
I've got 2 photos of an Audubon's Warbler to share. He kept flying out to catch insects from the top branches of a palm. Even though he is kind of small in this photo I like it.

He landed in a desert shrub so was closer for this photo.

I was back at Merritt Isl NWR today. A Great Blue Heron was bringing sticks to its nest on top of a palm tree. Its mate is sitting in the nest, you can just see the head if you look closely. I bet they are incubating eggs.

Eleanor-Love the hummingbirds. We are supposed to have some that stay here over the winter, but I kept the feeder up this year, and haven't seen one since October. Looking fwd to summer!

Here are two Mourning Dove "lovebirds".

Blue Jay. He thought he spotted a peanut in the grass, but it was only an empty shell.

Mockingbird was singing beautifully.

I was surprised to see you photo of a single Great Blue Heron nest. I have only seen them nesting in colonies.

Got some half decent pics of cardinals. I am really working on trying to get good shots of them. Lighting seems to need to be just right. Of course, throught the window doesn't alway help either!
