I couldn't find papa genos in the watch dog, was kind of surprised.
How to add it? or maybe I looked in the wrong place, I looked under herbs and pelargoniums which is their specialty.
I want to post my experiences with them
adding new companies to the watch dog
They're in there
http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/40/
I typed Geno into the search by company name box in the upper right corner of the screen on the first page you get to when you go into Garden Watchdog. That's usually the best way to look for companies if you already know their name--sometimes they show up in the categories you think they ought to and sometimes they don't, but the company name search will usually pull them up (assuming you know how to spell at least part of their name)
and you did that why? typed in geno, why shouldn't it come up with papa geno that's the name, I'm just not clear on that.
and I couldn't find Ritcher's herbs either. I've pretty much found all the others.
thanks for the help
i'm playing catch up today with posting in the watch dog LOL
Sorry if I confused you--it DID come up when I typed in Geno (that's how I found it and was able to include the link for you!). Mainly I was trying to make the point that if you already know the name of the company, you'll have better luck finding it if you use the company search box rather than trying to guess what category they might be listed in and browsing through that way.
And I didn't type in the whole name Papa Genos partly because I'm lazy, so I usually just type in part of a company's name. And also since this isn't a company I had ever heard of, I wasn't sure if it would be listed as Papa Geno's, or Papa Genos, or possibly even Papagenos, but by typing in Geno it would have showed up no matter how it was spelled.
it could have been under papagenos too. I separated the words. It's difficult to find my way around the plant files too. You have to be very very specific and for those who don't know the correct spelling or exactly what their looking for, it may not ever get found in there. I have this problem with the watch dog as well.
The GWD search looks for an exact match ("fuzzy logic" is what lets Google "guess" what you're looking for, and it's a LOT harder to program than you might think ;o)
PlantFiles will try to guess the correct spelling if you use the field-by-field search and don't get too carried away with filling in all the fields - one or two are plenty.
Kathy--that's exactly why I just type in part of the name when I'm looking for a company in Watchdog. I knew Geno was part of the name that you were looking for, and I figured if I just put that part in I was more likely to find your company than if I put in more of the name and possibly spelled it different than it was listed in the system. I'd suggest typing in just enough of the company's name that you think you'll find it without having to dig through hundreds of results.
Thanks, I appreciate the help
And if you do run across one that's really not in there and you need to add it, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the main Watchdog page, and you'll see a link to add a new company. Fill in the blanks and submit--I think admins need to approve new entries so it won't show up in the database right away, but you'll get a message once it's added and then you can go in and add your comments.
Thanks ecrane. I appreciate that.
Kathy Ann
I find it easier to search DG via Google. This is what I entered watchdog "papa genos" no fuss, no frustration.
Judy
hum, that's a good idea too, thanks.
It's kind of scary what daves garden stuff comes up in a google search LOL one time I searched kathy_ann. Holy cow!! I'm all over the net LOL
Kathy_ann, log out and run the same search - you'll find you're not quite as "out there" as it seems if you're logged in.
WEll, I had no idea LOL thanks Terry. I was worried the whole world would see my business LOL. I 'm not so worried now. Thanks
