Even more snow photo's

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

very eerie & pretty at the same time Victor

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

That's cool Victor. Did you do a long exposure on that? I like the way the lights glow. Is the chain link fence separating your yard from neighbors, or is that where your veggie patch is?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Victor, you have snow!! But your tree's look fine compared to mine. I really am worried we are going to get some power outages, our trees are already weighted down with snow & ice from the last 2 storms. It has been snowing since midnight, we are expected to get 10-12" of snow before we turn over to freezing rain later this afternoon. I can see a big tree down at the bottom of the field that is just leaning and my neighbors weeping willow has some very low branches right now.
I filled up the bath tub with water, stocked the fireplace, candles in holders all through the house and the batteries have all been charged. I'm ready.....bring it on!

Thanks Allison, now wishing I had bought the ticket to Florida for yesterday! LOL

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

now that I can hear... I could use a few days in the warmer weather

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

My trees all look like this,,,,,,,what's the freezing rain going to do to them?

This is the tree at the base of the woodline at the bottom of the field. Had to stretch my zoom on this one as I am NOT going outside!!

On the bright side, that nice long white line will be good firewood for next year.

And this is the neighbors weeping willow, see the big branch on the right side? Theres a nice big split and if it comes down it will most likely land in the road. I don't think it's going to be pretty here today, it's gonna get yucky fast.

Hope your trees don't have too much damage. Yes, Harper - 20 second exposure. The chain link surrounds my pool.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Victor - Your night ones are nice. A lot of times my night snow ones come out brighter than cloudy daytime ones. A little fog and nearby lighting helps too.

Here was a sunny one.

looks cold Al

What a snow mess there Pix.

Sturgeon spearing has begun on Lake Winnebago - talk about snowblind!

I've got a little drifting going on today.

Relatively - not bad Allison, about 10 then. That drifted snow was so hard I could walk of top of it.

Little baby drift

snow blind for sure Al.... and I wouldn't call that a little drifting Pixie

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Really bright on that Lake Al...need sun glasses.
The railings will be frozen like this when all is said and done here, makes it a little difficult to hang onto after it freezes.

10 for me is bad

:)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I don't mind snow, it's the freezing rain part that comes on top of the snow. Makes things dangerous, tree limbs fall, electrical fires, bad accidents, just misery.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Celeste, how are things there so far? Good luck to you and your neighbors.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Al, I have a friend who lives on the other side of the lake in Fon du lac.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

That's too bad.LOL
We all rip on FDL, they're used to it. I work there now and then.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Ha! That's funny.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Well we have transitioned to rain but it freeze's when it land as the temps are dropping again. Here's a blurry close up of my Hackmatack tree branches.

The lower limbs are touching the ground now.

My old white lilac tree is bending over too, I hope it doesn't snap.

The wind drifts have made a nice little circle around the base of this tree. Normally I can almost stand up straight under it...it's about 4-4.5 feet, the branches make it look like there is only 2 feet under it now.

I went out to shovel the heavy wet snow off the roof and could here the tree's snapping in the woods. One tree in particular, behind my neighbors house, is tipping to the right....I have a feeling this one won't be in view tomorrow morning if this keeps up.
Sorry it's so blurry, this one is very high up.

Al - my DH grew up in a small town called Prairie du Sac - is that around you? We got to drive through there once several years ago.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Prairie du Sac - oh sure. Real nice area. How did he get out to CT?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

His parents moved to Brooklyn when he was 12. He always says it was the best of both worlds - small town childhood, and then being a teenager in New York.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I guess. There is a well known winery in PdS now. Some DGers from there.

Alfred, ME(Zone 4a)

We had 10" of snow before it turned to rain. Barley got it plowed and blowed before it got to heavy to move. Snowbanks are 20 to 25 ft high now and we have 8 wks of snow weather left. Running out of places to put it. Dogs love it, snow mountains every where. Also could hear trees snapping when I took the mutts out last nite. Glare ice every where , have to wear ice cleats till I get it sanded tomorrow. Never lost power here. In looking at the short and long forecast it appears we are going to have snow/rain bout every 3 days till who knows when. Still, I would deal with this any day than the tornadoes the people out west have and poisonous snakes. kdcon

Oh my so much ice and snow you have. Love the bright blue sky. Hope you get some melting today.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

kd, the dogs look like they are having a great time!!

Eleanor, wasn't it pretty with the sun shining on all the ice this morning? I hate the sound as I know it's hard on the limbs but it is breath takingly beautiful!

Thanks Victor & ngam!
