oh, i loved shirley mcclaine in steel magnolias. i love her when she plays that kind of part. there was a recent movie where she was a crotchety old grandmother. just wonderful.

These are all quotes used in my daily life...lol my DH who did not grow up in the United States has had to learn them...he still never gets Monty Python

Like someone said "I'll have what she is having" from When Harry met Sally, "An ounce of pretension is worth a pound of manure" from Steel Magnolias and I hope this one is ok to add "Opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one and nobody thinks theirs stinks!" from Home for the Holidays. And yep, I say those often, especially the last two! ; )

DH is from Chile and missed out on much of our TV and movies. I had to explain I Love Lucy to him...lol I don't think he thinks he has an accent so see's no relationship to Desi.

Anna, the astronauts said that and we heard it live when they did! I remember worrying they would not get back to earth. The other one I will never forget was hearing him say "the Eagle has landed" and looking up at the moon to see if I could see it! LOL!

Big event at our house too. Remember my Dad kept telling me we were seeing something really special. Of course we took it all for granted.
Just like the kids today with all the stuff they have.
My favorite part in the Apollo 13 movie was when there was a problem and the guys all got out their slide rules. How soon we forget there was a time before calculators.

I just gave my daughter her Dad's slide rule. I couldn't even remember how to use it, but it still has the instruction manual in the case. I bet our mention of it will have some of the younger set googling "sliderule" to see what we are referring to!

Oh Ferris is my favorite! This is my fav from that movie "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." I guess I sort of live by it? My brother was staying with me once and he pointed out that if there was nothing on tv I was watching Ferris and he had never seen it so he thought I was nuts--I am I guess? LOL!
