Het Rachel! Blew off my parents to come and was wondering if you want some ground cover? Lots of sedum if you need some.
Work Party at Rachel's
I'm with you all in spirit - and loooooonging to be with you!!! Have fun and takes lots of pics (as if I had to ask!).
Carole
Gordon I would love some groundcover just no ajuga or vinca. I will dmail you directions.
I'll bring what I got and if you don't want any I will just bring it to the next plant swap at Newcastle.
I must be the first one home! Had a great time Rachel. And what a beautiful yard! You got to post pics of the final result. Hope the sedum lives thru the ammonia bath and the bugs don't!
Just got home. . .nice drive back following a great day! It was good to see everyone again, and nice to finally meet you Susy and Mary.
I made it home to, had a great time, and very sore at the moment. injoyed meeting all of you
Outta, love your style.
NW, you are a kick.
Susy, Thank you for bringing the cat book for me to look at, I so
enjoyed it and have to find one so I can really pour into it, some of the things I read are so true to earth.
Katie, you where fascinating about finding sizes, and colors. doing all the hunting. and bringing the Lilies from Annie.
And thank all of you for all goodies, Can't believe I showed up in a full car and went home with a full car.
Rach's DH loves the lights.
Annie so sorry you couldn't make it, and thank you for all the Lilly's.
If missed anything sorry, 'tired', and haven't unloaded the car and need to download the pics.
Katie & I got back to my house at 8:00. Beautiful night sky, but a bit chilly to stay outside. Oh yeah, that's what jackets are for...
That was fun today - so good to meet folks & see a project go througha very rapid progress. Funny how it all looks daunting, but Katie made a great point in that we are used to working alone. With so many people helping, it was almost finished. The weather cooperated, too!!!
I had a great time, and special thanks again to Carl for the wonderful food.
PS - and Scrappy rocks!
=:0)
Glad everyone got home safely! What a great day working in Rachel's yard. I almost felt like I had worked in my own yard, it was that satisfying. So glad we found those nasty weevils. Do tell us, Rachel, if they die in the ammonia water overnight. Evil weevils. hate them, I do!
Scrappy is the rockin'est dog I've seen in a long time! What a personality! We just loved him. And your parents - they rock, too!
Hi everyone! Another terrific afternoon playing in the dirt with great fun people! Wonderful to finally meet Mary & Sheri, and Gordon, too!
Thank you to everyone for the plants and seeds and pots and laughs and talk! Mary, Thank you so much for the decal, too! :)
Rachel, Great to see your folks again, they're wonderful! Thanks to Carl for BBQ-ing!, and of course, hugs to the furkids and of course Scrappy, such a great dog.
OK, So, who's next??? ;)
I'll throw my hat into the ring.
I will start another thread. . .Possible planning (nonwork) party?

Hugs to all
Great pix Tills...all my pix are of the finished product, so I'll wait and post them after you are done posting yours. I did realize however, when downloading them last night, that I didn't get a picture of you! Where were you when I was buzzing around snapping?
I was so tired last night I forgot how to post a link to another thread, but all fresh and rested this morning, so here it is.

So glad to hear that everyone made it home safe. Words cannot truly express how grateful I am to all of my dear friends for all of their hardwork. You are all amazing, wonderful people! I'm headed outside to check the nasty little weevils and take some more pics. Thank you Mary and Sheri for taking pictures yesterday, somehow I managed to completely forget about that aspect of my hostessing duties!
Rach - that was fun - just think how much more would have been accomplished if you had issued duct tape for our mouths!
...without pictures, you could have claimed "'twas all the work of the faeries"...
I am waiting to see the "progress shots" - having been there, I have permanently etched your property in my mind, so I can see it all the time on my brain-screen.
Pixy - thanks for the seedlings. I have researched each & dutifully entered the info into my 2008 spreadsheet. However - 2 Questions:
1. Climbing Milkweed yields 2 different names:
Matelea decipiens or Funastrum cyancoides. (last one aka Sarcostemma) which?
2. Tag for last pot of seedlings appears to be "Petromanila pinnata", and a google search yields zip.
Any other info, or am I spelling it incorrectly? Seed acquisition from...???
Help, please, and thanks much! K
We have accomplished death of the root weevils! The 1/2 amonia to 1/2 water combo worked! Thank you Pixy for putting on your crazy chemist hat and finding a killer solution!
Here is an overall picture of our success. It is amazing to compare it to the first post in this thread. What 20 yards of dirt and some very hardworking gardeners can do! Katye, I don't think we would accomplish much if we couldn't talk! I know that when I can't talk I can hardly function!
Gosh, Kayte, what's the matter? Can't you read my scrawling attempt at writing? It only gets worse as I get older. Thanks so much for the cool seeds!
1. http://www.anniesannuals.com/signs/v%20-%20z/wattakaka_sinensis.htm That's the climbing milkweed. Seeds from Seedhunt.com Bet that's where Annie gets most of hers because a lot of her varieties are listed.
2http://www.anniesannuals.com/signs/p%20-%20r/petromarula_pinnata.htm Seeds from the same source. Ain't is a beauty?
Laurie, got your package mailed. Hope everything lives!
Rachel, please provide an evil weevil update. edited to say: excellent!

Hmm, Looks like there's no sunshine without us! ;)
Yard looks awesome, Rachel. :) How about a pix of the other end now?
Absolutely incredible - but don't think for one minute that more work would get done without the chatting . . . everyone would get bored and go home!!!
I love the energy and synergy that is produced when you put us all together! You can just feel it! Here are some shot's of the border vinyette's that Katie and Gordon put together, they found my rock collection, I love the combinations! The pots will be filled with lilies and gladiolias that will be arriving on tuesday or wednesday. Wahoo!
Rach and Gordon on the other corner of the curved drive.
Opps for got the pic
