My father-in-law will be 90 on Feb 11th. He's in a VA hospital in Pennsylvania. His name is Joe. He served in WWII.
I'm stealing an idea from roadrunner in the Southwest forum to see how many birthday cards and from how many different states I can get for him. If you would like to join in the fun and help me honor him, I will d-mail you his address. Thanks to anyone who wants to help, and thanks to Jo in the southwest forum for the original idea!
National birthday card request for a Veteran...
Good luck, Debi. I hope he gets many cards. Too many people don't realize how much cheer they can give by a simple card. It doesn't take much to bring a big smile to those who gave so much for our country.
I'd like to mail your FIL a Card representings our State. Please Dmail me. My FIL also served with medal of honor. I wished I could have done something for him in his living years.....like what you're doing now.
Thanks Lily!
My father was also a veteran, he passed away about 15 years ago. There are a lot of things I wished I had asked him. Yes, this is giving me such joy to do this for my father-in-law.
So far we have cards from the following areas
Alabama
Arizona
British Columbia
Connecticut
Florida
Indiana
Maine
New Jersey
New York
Nova Scotia
Ontario
Pennsylvania
Utah
Wisconsin
DG'ers are the best!
And I just added Alaska and Ohio.
HI, would be honored to send a card. My neighbor is also a veteran from WW11. I bring him flowers on Vet Day and Memorial Day. I get treated to stories from he and his wife. Loving photos of them..wonderful.
Please send me his address.
Thanks Marcia! I love those old stories, don't you?

Add me to the list!
Kentucky and North Dakota!! Thanks!
Here's one from California!
Thanks sannajane!
I saw my FIL over the weekend, and he had received about 22 birthday cards. He was really upbeat, a lot better than last month when we saw him.
They had visitors at the VA, that brought the Vets gifts in honor of National Hospitalized Veteran's Week. They introduced every one, starting with the ones in the hospital, talking about the branch of service, dates, war, piloting, etc. Then the visitors were introduced, some of whom were Vets. One woman introduced herself, then said "I was never in the service, I'm sorry to say". My FIL called out
" You didn't miss anything!" which brought a round of laughter!
It was a nice weekend between that and all the birthday greetings.
Thanks again to all of you for making it so special!
Debi, I hope that was a special day that your DFIL enjoyed. Hope our card wasn't late getting there. My DH was honored to share the joy of sending the greatings as well as thanks.
editted to correct typo; greetings (and not greatings oooops, sorry).

Please add me to your list...I'll send from Texas!
How are you doing on the states? Did you make all 50?
We ended up with 19 States and 3 Canadian Provinces. Thanks to everyone's help! It really did cheer him up.
Debi, you did a beautiful thing for him. :-)

My husband was proud to be able to help, too.
