Yes!

It's asleep right now under a few inches of home made compost.

Hey pirl that is really neat would you please share with me how to grow it? I have read up on it but would like to hear it from someone who has hands on experience.thanks.

I'd follow any typical directions about digging the trench, placing the asparagus plants and covering up with soil as the spears rise. The most important part is to use excellent soil with a lot of compost incorporated. Keep it only as wet as you keep the rest of your garden. Our radio gardening guy uses lots of wood chips as a winter covering but we use compost. Put weed barrier cloth in the paths or you'll be weeding the path way too much. Cover the paths with any kind of mulch. I like the long needled pines best.

Just general 10-10-10 as food but we don't even do that.

I'm experimenting with asparagus grown from seed.

They were started under lights last spring and planted out into one block of my square foot garden. They grew fairly well.

I may have assigned them the wrong block (shaded for part of the day) so am considering moving them, will see how they come up. Have lots of well cooked compost, so it'll only be the digging them up/moving them to another block...

I have seeds left over, so may pop a few in a flat for fun...

It's a good idea to put them in the most sun possible so moving them while they're young is desirable.
