Where have all the PNWers gone (part 2)

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Ohhhh, outta, pedestals are for Michaelangelos - dizzy making - and really much too dangerous. On the ground, please, two feet. Ahhhh, much better. (ohmigawd - can we sneak in and give Michaelangelo a chain saw in the lowered hand? I'm sure they wouldn't mind!) And let me think, building a bed and breeding horses/dogs/sheep/cats/children (well okay, children are begats)....... if you make a mistake with wood, you can saw it up into little bitty pieces and go get more. Tough with with the animates - you just have to keep going.

Pixie, thank you - it has been a rather romantic 30 years (this March!) - a few hiccups, but those were me, not him.

It is blowing blowing out there this morning - I think it is a greenhouse day - and I have my seed order from Special Plants - ahhhhh, .

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

rachie, Those Puppy Ears kill me, too cute. And the look on Cleo's face before she pounced, Classic CAT - love it !

Port Angeles, WA(Zone 8b)

Rachel ~ I LOVE Scrappy's ears. . . classic!

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

I just put this info over on the 2008 PNW Calendar thread as well.

I just got an dmail back from Heidi. How would April 26th work for a day in Kingston and a visit to DragonFly? Jim would that day work for you for those of us that want to visit your garden (and the little fairies in our pockets) as well? Any other suggestions?

Could scrappy be any cuter??? Here is skippy in his little coat. We don't generally dress our animals up. I don't know why he has this. But it was sleeting that day, and I wanted him outside to run off some energy.

So Laurie, what day in March? My DH and I are married 26 years on March 20. I never builts us a bed, but I did sneak an antique baker's table into the kitchen for our anniversary one year.

Was Skippy tired, displeased or bored?
My yellow lab, Amber, has announced in recent days that it is a fact that people are crazy. I did not ask her to elaborate - she had a look on her face similar to Skippy's which pretty much said it all. No explanation needed.

I believe you have read that expression correctly!! The lowered eyes says it all, doesn't it?

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Somebody is not happy Pix

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Skippy wants to know 'where's my boots, you've got boots, where are mine - you expect me to go out in this without boots?'

Pix - ides of March for us - met on April Fools and married two years later on the ides of march, boy does like to dice with danger!

Port Angeles, WA(Zone 8b)

Laurie ~ apparently danger works for you two. Sounds like you have a great marriage going on.

Pixy ~ Skippy is an Aussie...need I say more? We get the same look from Crikey when we ask him to do something he feels it beneath his dignity (like get off the couch).

Rachel ~ April 26 is great for me. Don't have anything on my calendar yet, so I will pencil that one (in case it's bad for others).

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

Good morning everyone, you asked for the pics so will send them shortly.
Thank you susy, those crazy guys are having a wrestling match right now. Yes DD lives in Vancouver and yeah we've known Susy and Lance for 32 yrs, they moved in next to us when we lived in town. They now live between Bend and Sisters. Yeah the drive to Vancouver isn't bad going over Hood in the summer, but in the winter Santiam is ours and the kids choice of hwy. You wanted pics of the pet sheep here they are (I'm the only one that can pet them, they're scared to death of everyone else even DH). That's Bilbo on the left and Frodo on the right, you can't see his horns though. That's the cistern they're standing next to, it holds about 15,000 gal of water.
Thank you Rachel, we have 8 acres. We moved out here 20 yrs ago April. Cute pics of Scrappy, Cinder and Cleo.
Pixy, cute pic of Skippy (he doesn't seem to think so though)! LOL! Congrats on your long term marriage, DH and I will be married 34 yrs in June.

Here's a pic of Lucky the bull. I named him Lucky since he will be our new herd bull and his twin brother is now a steer.

Here's a pic of the two pet chickens (they don't have names though). They're Americauna/Plymouth Barred Rock and full sisters. The rooster is their brother (they have another sister but she's a touch me not).

Here's the rooster. He doesn't have any tail feathers as the Sexlink hens keep pulling them out.

This is their mom, I'm going to get rid of her in the spring as she's not laying anymore. I have a lady friend that gives all of the old layers to a Hispanic lady and her family.

This is Blondie, she was picked on when she was just a chick so had to rescue her from the flock. She was a yard chicken for about a yr. She's a Golden Sexlink.

This is a pic of Red the old rooster that was in the yard with Blondie for the summer. Had to give him away or kill him as he was getting mean, chose the former.

Sorry to distract from all the doggie pics, but I am pleased as can be that the landscaper guys did leave on Friday having FINISHED the patio (they are returning to build the log store and hide the ugly oil tank, but thank goodness, not until next year!)

These are the barrow friendly steps up to the kitchen garden.

And this one is a detail of the brick pattern (sorry, I'm going to make you look at this in detail - I put all those little white pebbles in there and we are going to look at them!)

LOVE IT
It looks wonderful

You are going to injoy that so much, think of all the BBQS your DH can have there,
what kind of patio furn. have you planed?
Sooo lovely to join you for tea or a hamburger there in the spring.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

And there you have it. A space big enough for the lot of us to dance, with husbands, big dogs, two sheep and various assorted extras - and the entire orchestra on the upper lawn! I just love it.

We crossed over - I hate to say this, but this is the second patio - DH bbq on the other side of the house. And right now, there is NO BUDGET for any furniture - this is going to be a sit on the bricks space for a while. But we can all dream -

I could just dream of something like that

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Laurie - it's incredible. The design AND the execution. It just has that artful finished look.

Nice job!!

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

Laurie, FANTASTIC PATIO! I'M JEALOUS! Sorry about all the animal pics but they were asked for. Maybe DH's and big dogs but LET'S LEAVE THE FARM AT HOME! LOL!

105 - no need to apologize, we love doggie pictures (and all the rest) here! I just wanted to interlope!

And I am so glad you both like it - it has been a labour of near tears and love (bless those knee pads - I couldn't have done it without them). I couldn't have asked for a more enthusiastic pair of guys - they really did pull all the stops out to do this - it was labour intensive, and never once a growl - although I think we went through 100weight of chocolate biscuits, and I made sausage sandwiches on fridays! As many as they could eat - debrief day. Sausage sandwiches really help.

And they were brillant at the end - everything completely put back - including all my tools, washed and rehung in the shed! And they repaired two glass panes in the gh roof which blew out last week - now that is going the extra yard! Sausage sandwiches. highly reccommend it.

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

Sounds like you had two real JEWELS working with you, that's GREAT!
Susan

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

they are - they've worked for us on a couple of projects, and they are always so nice to work with - if your schedule can be a tad flexible.

Bend, OR(Zone 5a)

That's good to hear.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi Susan, Thank you for the "critter tour" . What a great group of animals you've got. I'm a city kid, so I'll stop now before I say something really clueless! Nonetheless, the sheep look smarter than some I've seen, and I think that if i ever had chickens I'd like the Americauna because I love those spots! Your kitties are beautiful, too. Champagne is the perfect name for your soft creamy one. Isn't there a story about Koregon's name? Let me think-your daughter brought him home? (I had a black cat named Spook for a while until he got completely attached to a friend of mine and so I gave him to my friend. He got his name because everything spooked him terribly, but we all ended up calling him Spooky-sounds better and calls better.)

Laurie, your patio and stairs are wonderful! I like how the white pebbles break up the brick and actually make it look more like a real basket weave, somehow. And the curved barrow stairs are terrific. Functional and beautiful. What are you going to be planting at the top of the new wall? I saw the rosemary starts and I remember your saying that you wanted lots, but now I don't remember where they were going?

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

What a treat - first lots of animals for me to drool over, then the most glorious patio ever!

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Laurie, Beautiful patio it adds so much to your back area! The wall and stairs are wonderful such a great project.

Hi Susan, Great pictures of the farm and animals, love the chickens!

Rachel, Scrappy Do looks like he is really learning well! Love that dogs ears and expressions! April 26th at Heidi's would be great, I will mark that on the calendar.

Pixy, great lookie Aussie you have there!

Tills, hope your not working to hard and that you are enjoying the time you have off!

Spring is coming,
Carla
Murmur, Hello glad to see you hanging around!

Sue, I received the plants on Saturday and have potted them up, crossing my fingers! Thanks so much...
