Good thing a hawk didn't swoop down!
What did you see on your walk? 2
heehee
My wife has me eating out of her hand like that.
Oh?
Thats good to know Victor, in case you give us any trouble we know who to notify.
From piecing together everything Victor has told us, that makes his Wife the Warden??
Trouble? Me?
Isn't every man's wife, 3G??
smart men
Yup
Pixie - thanks! I like that Chinese Fan Palm photo too.
Deb - those are WONDERFUL photos!! I can't believe you took those yourself while feeding the birds! Awesome! I've never fed birds from my hand and find that so fascinating that so many came so readily - even two at a time! So interesting....and the photos are great!
This morning we woke up the River, which was so peaceful........many pelicans and a little heron enjoying the peace and quiet......
Louise, hope you get a shot of the heron - one of my favorites.
Here is the video I took of the bird feeding.

Cool, Deb! You're a YouTube star now! Okay - I have questions. What type of video camera? What format was it in and how big was the file you uploaded? Thanks.
It's my Canon SD900. Format? A video clip off the camera - I don't know?
File size was 92 MB. I shot it on high resolution. (left-handed)
Thanks, Deb.
That was too cool Deb! Now we have our own UTube Star!!!!
That is very cool, Deb! I still can't believe you took that yourself. You held so still!
I went on a very cool walk today at Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island. We were there at the perfect time to see lots of beautiful birds feeding at low tide. Here is a shot of a flock of rare white pelicans......
Cool Louse! I like gators.
Me too, Victor.......they are so prehistoric, along with the pelicans! There is now a crocodile living in Ding Darling as well. I haven't seen him or her yet.
DH is going to be in Coral Gables (and somewhere else i think) next weekend - are you anywhere near there, Donnie?
Nice pics Louise.
We went on a swamp tour in Louisianna , and saw a few gators, and DH held a baby - so cute. The tour guide was awesome - and it was just the 3 of us, so a very nice tour.
I went on one of those air boats in the Everglades years ago. This huge gator was right alongside the boat and were so low that we practically looked him in the eye!
Victor, Bet you scared him to death.
If sensing a need for a change of shorts scared him, then yes.
You guys are a riot!! I love that image of the alligator freaking out when he came eye to eye with Victor!! Too funny!!
Amy - Coral Gables is on the east coast and we are on the west coast just across the state. Tell him to expect it to be hot (I think). It's funny down here......the temps can be in the 70s - as they are today - but with the humidity, it feels like it's 90 out there!
Deb - I held a baby gator once myself......even tiny, their little mouths want to chomp!!
He is going to be in Coral Gables and Naples, which is apparently a rather long drive, across what he calls "Alligator Alley"..?
Amy, it's called Alligator Alley because you could always see alligators in the water ditches on either side of the road. They also sometimes cross the road as well.
He's beautiful!!
Made of woody??
wouldn't you love to see an actual woodpecker pecking the fake one?
I'd be more impressed with the reverse.
must you always be contrary?
: )
No.
ackk..i didn't even notice.
I really shouldn't comment on things after working all day :(
3G - that's actually a nice compliment that I'll pass along to my neighbor. He is legally blind, and we think it is awesome that he still carves!! He is one of the wonderful neighbors we have who watered our plants last year before the rains came. Incredible guy! As you can see, there is a nice sense of humor among our neighbors here that is a lot of fun! On the "real" side, however, our huge pileated woodpecker, "Phil" has returned and was making lots of welcomed racket here yesterday. He was on a tree across the street from us, but he was too far away to get a good shot of him.
