Do you watch Dr. Phil too often, Amy? Inquiring minds want to know,,,,, xx, Carrie
Harper's birthday - part 4
Eek... no - i will instantly change the channel.
one of the funniest things on the LA trip i just took was on the tour trolley we were going past some of the TV studios. All the studios have these super gigantic posters - imean HUGE - advertising their current shows, movies, etc.
We came to a stop next to one of the sudios, and there, looking down on us, was a HUGE DR. PHIL. Me, Eric, and about 5 other people on the trolley saw it at the same time and said, "AAARRGGGHHH!"
The tour guide about fell off the trolley laughing.
i said, "Whoa - maybe that's what got the Statue of Libery in Cloverfield!"
I remember that tour. Well maybe it was a different studio, but the Providence lady waved at me, ME! You know, the one whose name trips off my husband's tongue and I can't pronounce for the life of me. M. K. x, C
I haven't watched Dr. Phil in a few years. What do so many find so offensive with him?
I heard that he gave up the license in order to do the t.v. show - probably the confidentiality thing. Even though I haven't watched him since he used to be on Oprah, I'm sure he's still highly qualified.
It's my understanding he gave up his license. It's not that he lost it.
I agree with Sue. We had former neighbors who were doctors in town and their advice was still valid though they no longer held licenses to practice medicine.
I didn't realize psychology and technology were related!
The only thing that stimulates me these day is my garden!
Oh, and watching the AfriCam. It's a live camera at a watering hole at Nkorho Pan in South Africa. I've been watching it for about 3 or 4 months now, and it's awesome!
Last night, around midnight (6:00 a.m. their time), I got to see a leopard. I was so excited! They, and lions, don't make a habit of coming around this area often. So it was a real treat.
He is a PhD in experimental psychology, not an MD.
After college he had a private practice with his father for 10 years, but decided he didn't have the patience for the job. He then co-founded Courtroom Services, Inc., a company that uses its expertise in psychology to help lawyers in trials.
Sue, is that a website?
Our MD neighbors were right the two times I consulted them: appendicitis for DH and the imminent birth of my granddaughter. Both doctors have died since those events, one at 89 and the other at 98.
Well at least they did save your dh pirl and the dgd.
I just found that webcam for the watering hole but you cant see nothing as it is - 12:49 am there. I take it would be dark?

That is incredibly cool! thanks,,,, x, C
God, I love the noises!
Thanks for sharing that site with us, Sherrie. I can't seem to get it to connect. I disabled the pop-up blocker, but it keeps switching to stop. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
It disconnected for me, Louise. One minute it was there, the next minute it disconnected. Too much traffic all at once???
Victor, very true abouy Brit. Too sad. They should leave her alone.
Amy, You are right about Dr Phil. Oprah meet him & hired him in the lawsuit the meat industry brought against her. She is fed up with him too. He hasn't done therapy in years, except the non-therapy on TV. I don't like him but the "no license" issue doesn't mean much. Jumping in on Brit & then running for an interview says a lot though.
You guys! honestly! I'm not even paying as much attention to these people as you are. Why bother? Who cares? Not I.
Dave - why is Oprah fed up with him?
Couple of things, his Brit thing was the last. Not sure of others.
Carrie, he is supposedly in my profession. Hard not to notice
Oh, OK, I guess you get a pass, professional professionalism or whatever the term I'm thinking of is. x, C
Phew! Thank goodness! ;^)
My pleasure!
i've never much liked him, but i hadn't given him much thought recently, until i saw his giant head looming over us in L.A.
LOL such a funny image!
Dave - I understand why the Britney episode would have people annoyed with Dr. Phil but what else has happened that so many people don't like him?
i just find him deeply irritating.
and i think he tends to oversimplify things in a way that makes great TV and sound bites, but does not neccessarily great help for the people who need it.
but your mileage may vary.
TV shrinks are in the same class as tv judges, etc.
True enough about him simplifying things. Of course it's not his life he's talking about on TV. When he talks about two sides of the pancake I could scream and I think of 9/11 and there is no defense to the other side of that pancake and many others.
No wonder I'm not a fan of TV.
Sherrie, re the AfriCam - they occasionally get blackouts from power failures or storms. You just have to be patient sometimes. Oh, and the leopard I saw was a Cheetah!
I went and watched this morning for about 4 minutes. It was noon or 1ish there. I was watching 3 good sized animals with horns. They were just laying down. They werent an antelope but a ....................................... fill in the blank. I have no clue what they were!
Where did the water hole go? They were laying down in grass with trees and bushes around them.
