Nanny...I have yet to see a female RBW...you are soo lucky!

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

Just popping in to thank all of you for these wonderful pictures. I especially appreciate that you identify the birds for those of us who aren't very knowledgeable.

I thought when we moved to Albuquerque we'd have many interesting birds at our feeders but that hasn't happened. We get mostly sparrows, robins, finches and an occasional thrasher. Although we are across from the foothills we are in a heavily populated area with lots of traffic which probably deters many birds from venturing in. We do get a hawk or two, and my big thrill was once having a Red Shafted Flicker visit us.

I really am enjoying your posts.

June

Ooops - edited to say "thrasher", not thatcher!

Beautiful pics dellrose! I haven't been seeing our Mockingbirds around at all; hopefully by Spring they'll make an appearance. I miss them.

Marlton, NJ

Very dark and overcast here today so pics aren't very good but I noticed some of the American Goldfinch here are starting to show more bright yellow just like some others have mentioned.

Yesterday was the first time I noticed the Downy Woodpecker using the caged suet feeder. She was on the opposite side then so I had to wait till today to get a pic.

Debnes: What a brilliantly simple idea for keeping the big meanies away from the little guys. I have an old planter like that. Gonna rig it up this weekend. Thanks for the idea!

Gary: Oo-ing and Aah-ing over your waxwing pics. They are such beautiful birds. We normally get a flock of Cedar WW bought this time. None yet but I'm hopeful.

Spending a bit of a lunch break at the office, enjoying everyones photos!

Just got back from the coast. Took scads of pic and picked up some new birds for my life list. It's going to take awhile to sort all the pics out, but here are a few I took on the way to the cast. (Great Blue Heron)

This Cormorant (Double-crested I think)

Yep, Double-crested. Note the orange-yellow bill; other Pacific Coast cormorants have dark bills.
