I do not claim to understand plumeriae. I try to grow them -- period.
The photo below shows a gathering of plumerias seeds I have just harvested. They are "Brad's White." (See my and Clare_CA's threads for photos)
After consultation with our resident expert, I harvested them. (Since they already started dropping.) I still have a few pods on the tree -- which I am keeping -- and watching.
I will mail some, or all, of them -- at my expense -- to anyone who will promise to spread them around to others who might want some and arrange for mailing.
I am just too old to wait for the seeds to blossom (but I am sure that they eventually will), nor can I give up golf long enough to do individual mailings.
Please d-mail me your address and how many you will be willing to take and redistribute. I hope that the first one asks for ALL.
: )
WANTED: (Young) volunteer(s)
Oh, please pick me! :)
I'll take some too!
you have dmail
CASE CLOSED.
Robynznest and mistygardener have been the first to volunteer, and they will be the "keepers of the seeds."
Please make your arrangements with them, directly.
Good luck
: )
Thanks so much, flyboyFl! :)
Oh, Brad. You have such a generous heart:-) Those seeds look just a tad on the immature side, but perhaps they will germinate anyway. It looks like many are missing their coats or maybe they haven't developed yet, but no matter. I'm sure many will be thrilled to receive them.
Thanks so much Brad, I know we will all enjoy them.
Heading over to re-read the seed germination sticky.
Thanks again
Brad,
Thank you for helping people get started with plumies. That is so kind of you. Another Johnny Apple seed of the plumie world.
Mickey
He is a pretty cool dude, for sure! I do plan on germinating some first so I can tell -Who, What, When, Where, Why, etc.....LOL
Brad is one of the coolest DGers around that's for sure.
I agree:-)
Hey guys -- don't overdo it.
Luckily one of the perks of maturity is that you can do what you want to do. This is really a pleasure.
I am having trouble typing with misty eyes, so stop it.
Be well, all of you. And, good luck with the seeds. (I am waiting for more to ripen.)
: )
Aweeeeee and a softy, too! :)
Here's a picture that my friend Dan sent me today. I thought you guys might like to see what a seedpod looks like when it splits open. He said that his seedpods take 9 months to fully mature and that this is the earliest that he has seen one mature. This seedpod would have had to form in April in order to be ready to harvest now.
Clare that was a brilliant picture - I had no idea they would look like that. Alas not enough blooms last year to encourage any seed pods, but I never give up hope!
You got a lot of pods, Brad! That is awesome! You must have a lot of thrips hard at work in your flowers;-)
It's not entirely the proliferation of the thrips. I, also, keep soft background music playing -- like Deep Purple, and Skylark. (You'd remember them if you were mature, enough.)
Be well
: )
LOL, Brad! You crack me up!
Flyboy - you don't really expect any of us girls to admit to remembering those tunes do you?
What about Mister Meadowlark?
Be well -- and be honest!!!
: )
I have no idea what you are talking about, but if it works I'm willing to find them and play them.
Those were the good old days. You understood the words in the songs to which the kids were listening.
Except, maybe, for "Mares eat oats and does eat oats, and little lambs eat ivy -- a kid'll eat ivy too, wouldn't you?"
: )
I actually know that one. Bing Crosby? I think I remember seeing a Hope/Crosby film with them singing it. Even if it wasn't him I still liked Bing.
I, also, seem to remember it as a WWII marching song.
As times go by.
: )
I was trying to remember the song I think was another Bing tune about a wishing to be a pig or a star. Don't remember, but I have some old LP I will bring in to play.
Would you like to swing on a star carry moonbeams home in a jar and be better off than you are or would you rather be a mule ...
That was sung by Bing Crosby. The title is Would You Like to Swing on a Star.
Thank you, I love that song. I also like it sung by Bruce Willis and Danny Aiello in 'Hudson Hawk'.
I guess I'm an oldie at heart.
I think we all are --- oldies at heart.
Remember the Hit Parade? How we stayed up and waited for the results?
Those were the days -- my friends.
: )
Hit Parade, Whats hit Parade? LOL
Every Saturday night on radio (you know, TV without pictures) there was a program which listed, and played, the ten favorite songs of that week. Big deal!
Understand, this was before the days of all the potpourri of entertainment that now comes streaming into our homes. Life was simple then.
: ).
Oh I see, but I have one more question. Whats radio, is that like an Ipod?
I TOLD my DH I wanted a cd player for the garden.
The curse of modernity.
When i was a child I remember listening to a "crystal" radio.
And only Dick Tracy had a small two-way radio that fit on his wrist.
O tempore, O mores
: )
Found a recording of The Shadow on the 'net recently. It reminded me how much we could 'see' in our minds when we listened to radio shows. Still the reason I like books.
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!
: )
That's a tad before my time. I do remember listening to this huge radio when I was little. Mom always had it on while she was cleaning and all of us kids were being pulled around on towels to buff the hard wood floors, now that was fun.
LOL - we had hard wood floors, too, but my mom didn't do that. She is a little squirt. Bet it was fun!
