wow ALL of your snow has melted already??
we too are getting a "taste" of spring. yesterday was near 50, but today will be cooler with winds off the lake.
even though i'm 30 some miles away.... winds off the lake will still cool us down a bit... though today the lake front will only be 38, with us about 5° warmer.
currently i do not have any markers in side my containers .... only a corresponding # on the outside.
I should probably remedy that, in case i lose my paperwork.
lessons learned for next year #6
I list all my winter sowing containers in my DG journal and mark the outside and inside of the containers with the journal RID numbers. Now if my computer fails me, I'll be in big trouble!
These are the ones that have germinated so far.

Cordeledawg , nothing showed up on that link, was that meant to be, LOL if it is. They will soon be up : )
Maybe I got that wrong , is that for everyone to use and add their WS seedlings???
Oh well maybe so. But if you add them, be sure to bring me the plants LOL
LOL Cordeledawg, I can share , lol but I think you will have much to plant of your own : )
Cordele .... from that link, i too did not get to your page... but i backed up to the "journal" which took me to my journal stuff [which is mostly blank] but i was able to locate yours... anyhooo, in your WS 2008 page, i did not see the RID numbers.
Maybe the rid numbers only show for the individual's journal, not for viewing by others. I do know you can enter any active rid number into the search block and pull up that particular journal entry. Anyway. I've got about 54 containers that have germinated. Just thought it would be nice if ya'll wanted to see what they were from a link to the journal instead of typing them all.

If you scroll down you will find lots of RID numbers...
You're keeping quite a lot of info in your Diaries, cord!
Thanks T! I really like writing the RID numbers on my containers. Sure saves from having to write the name of plant on the carton and jug.
thanks for that additional link. I did not find that page - but a different one.
Cord, if I buy you a plane ticket will you come up here and organize my stuff?
I'd ride my bike to your house, T if these old legs would make it! I'm not that organized though by a long shot. LOL
(Just mentioning Cincy brings back childhood memories of the passenger train ride I took to visit my great grandmother and my great uncle. He worked in the Cracker Jack factory there in Cincy back in the early 60's. I thought that had to be the best job anyone could possible have.)
What a fun travel adventure as a kid! And, oh, my! That would be a great job for an uncle to have! Did you get a few purloined 'prizes' from your uncle? Oh, to be young again.
When we go up to Chicago we drive by the Cracker Jack factory up there. That's even a kick for us and we're not even kids.
If it weren't for diddling away my time on DG, I'm sure I would have a well organized seed sowing set-up and garden room! Today maybe I'll log off and actually do some straightening up, listing and labeling. Wouldn't really be a bad idea! (-:
I've yet to buy myself one of those baseball card holders you are using to organize your seed packets in. That's the cat's meow right there for sure, T!
T, you and I need us a greenhouse, gf! That's my neXT big project. Thinking about making a lean to up against my workshop. That would eliminate the need for one wall expense.
I did buy (Nov) one of those shelf units with the plastic zipper cover. Still in the box! Haven't organized my time to put it together yet.
I'm seeing bubblebees already so that tells me I can go ahead and direct sow some zinnias! yIPPEE!
Here is my lesson for next year. Don't have a foot and ankle injury during planting time I didn't do any at all.
Zen -- seems you have had a rough 'winter' season. maybe there is still time for you to get in a few jugs.... How's your foot healing up?
Oh Zen, not good. Hope your healing well and can do some spring planting this year.
If I am lucky I will be able to work in the garden by spring. I just got back from the doctor and he said it is healing well. I go back again in three weeks and I should have worked myself off of the crutches by then. He did find a third hairline fracture in my foot.
Bless your heart, Zen. I hate that for you. Everyone should have jusmped in the yellow flower power van and come to help you.
Somehow, my tracker lost this thread for a bit...(or I lost my head; more likely.) Anyway, Tabasco, glad to hear that you are going to get to vist your old stomping grounds here in Alameda; I will make sure that Acapulco puts out the red carpet out for you!
Cordeledawg: If you have a large enough plastic bag, like a 2 gallon ziplock, you can put your soil into a loaf pan and then slip the pan inside a ziplock that has had its bottom corners clipped for drainage. (By the way, the 99 Cents Only store has 2 gallon ziplocks on sale, 5 bags for a dollar. Really, honestly I don't work for them. -LOL!) One gallon ziplocks are too small to slip a loaf pan into; What you can do with the one gallon ziplocks, is set one inside of a loaf pan and then fill the baggie with soil; Drainage holes in both of course. The loaf pan holder is just the right size to keep the one gallon ziplock nice and stable.
I'm happy I found the loaf pans with the domed tops, because they are just perfect. Of course, I didn't buy as many as I should have, and when I went back they were all gone. I knew I was being silly by not buying them all, but sometimes stupidity rules the day...
I started number 7 this is to long.
Here it is.
