Unstickied "sticky" thread?

If I remember correctly, wasn't the "Welcome to the Beginner Vegetables forum!" a sticky thread? It seems to have become unstickied, and I'd hate for our new DG friends not to be able to find it. That's such a good place to start!

It's also entirely possible that I'm mis-remembering things (again), and, if so, I apologize!

Based on the fact that the welcome threads in all the other beginner forums are not stickied, I would guess that the veggie one wasn't a sticky either. If it used to always be near the top my guess is people were just posting to it fairly frequently.

Weren't all the welcome threads sticked, though? There were some really long gaps between postings (like 5 months' worth of gaps, sometimes, on the Beg. Veg. forum), it seems like the threads would've been lost in that time.

There might be some forums where the welcome is stickied, but I think most times it's not. There's the paragraph at the top of the page that says what the forum's about, and the welcome thread was usually just to get things started, but then people would start other threads and the welcome one would get used less and less. Especially with a newer forum like the beginner ones, sometimes new people will come along and they'll look back through all the old threads that were there and sometimes post to the welcome one--I've seen that happen on some of the other beginner ones so that's why you probably see it pop up every few months or so. If you feel there's info in the welcome thread that would answer a lot of people's questions, then you can always request to have it made into a sticky.

Just so you want think you are crazy. The welcome thread in the beginner gardens forum did behave as a sticky until the last day or two. Have no idea why it changed, but I did notice that there was a post to it the day it started moving. There were no posts between July 07 and January 08. Many of the new posts (Jan. 08) were off topic so perhaps that had something to do with drawing attention to it.

Thanks, Farmerdill--with two small kids in the house, the sanity thing is sometimes questionable...

I'm sure somewhere along the line Dave will pop in and, if this needs fixin', will fix it!
