Nice feeders Rose!
Cardinals will eat off anything that has seed on it. And Yep, they don't like the crowds of other birds much, but they will tolerate them, lol!
Kathy ann asked me in the Daily Thread where I got the water feeder.. I have 2 of them I bought at Target. The top of the trough with the drinking ports will come off when you take it apart to fill. I remove that piece in winter for kinglet and the warblers.

Show Us Your Feeders Vol. 7
I just got my bird feeders about a month ago so I am quite new to feeding birds. I purchased the advanced pole system with a baffle from Wild Birds Unlimited and so far have been very happy with it. A couple of days ago a squirrel had jumped up to the longer tube feeders and climbed up to the hopper feeder on top. I purchased another 12 inch extension for the pole and hope that will do the trick. When I went to WBU the owner was reluctant to sell me the extension and said I probably just needed to shovel out some of the snow pack and the problem would be solved. I bought one anyway since I had driven all the way down there. Only $7.00 for the extension. Haven't seen a squirrel on them since!! Just waiting for the squirrels to try something else. Question - how often should the feeders be cleaned? Eleanor
Congratulations on the pole system; you'll love it!
Do you know you don't need to put the Squirrel Buster feeder on a baffled pole?
Nice pics!
Did you tell your neighbor he's nuts? I've seen them eating out of what ever's out there. They don't seem to mind LOL
I checked targets on line , didnn't have any of those waterers. Target is quite a ways from me, i'll have to check there next time I'm in Little Rock, Thanks for letting me know whereyou got it.
I'm loving the pictures.
Yes I know I didn't need to put it on a baffled pole. Originally my feeders were hanging from a sherpherds crook that I had used for flower containers and trees but the squirrels were scaring all the birds away besides eating the seed. Then I got the pole system with two arms for the feeders the squirrels could get into. I left the squirrel buster on a tree hanger but the squirrels kept trying to get into it and scared the birds away. So I bought two EZ-attach arms and moved everything to the pole system and everybody is happy except the squirrels!! :-) I have a peanut feeder and a bungee corn feeder for the squirrels and I moved that to the other side of the yard. The pic shows how I had my feeders originally. Even though the squirrels couldn't get the seed out of the squirrel buster they were hanging from it constantly and jumping onto it from the tree. Eleanor
I see. I have mine hanging from a branch in the apple tree not close to the ground.
I found out my favorite bird shop is closing for good soon. :-(((
Theres others around but I'll miss the lady that owned this shop so much, she was one in a million.
pelletory - that is too bad. I love the WBU that we have nearby. The two owners and all of the emplyees they have are wonderful and they really care about wildlife and the environment. They are so helpful and knowledgeable!! Eleanor
Actually WBU is where I'll be going once this one is closed.
I also found out we have a Tractor Supply store nearby.
I'm enjoying everyone's pics, as always - especially Mrs Ed's 'talking' goldfinch, and dellrose, that is a great picture of the cardinal and red-bellied woodpecker!
grammyphoeb, your question about cleaning feeders reminded me to check mine, it was past due time for a cleaning and disinfecting. I googled this up from the Cornell lab, it recommends cleaning, "every two weeks; more often during times of heavy use".

Thanks dellrose! We live in a wooded area and I have counted 8 squirrels out there at one time. They are very disruptive chasing and fighting with each other! Love your birdfeeder and cardinal pics. Eleanor
Thanks Claypa - good information and mine are overdue for a cleaning!! Eleanor
Thanks Eleanor and Claypa and thanks for the link on cleaning the feeders! Mine are well overdue but it will be warm today so think I'll get started with that! I didn't realize they had to be cleaned that often...I have been negligent! :0(
I'm wondering if they have to be cleaned that often during winter when it is cold - most of the time below freezing!! Eleanor
Hi Eleanor, I would think yes since feeders get used more during the winter.
Thanks pelletory. Eleanor
grammyphoeb, Would you like to start the next volume of
Show Us Your Feeders thread?
It will be Vol. 8
Pelle:-)
Link to Vol. 8 (I hope - I'm not very good at doing links) Eleanor http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/807898/
