Rabbits

I never did see it because the previews did remind me too much of my bloodied dad.

pirl, that's a good thing....

I did enjoy Psycho.

I'd rather see a nice sappy ending, I guess. 'The Birds' peek made me dislike scary movies for life. I guess that's what happens when you are 5 years old and see such things.

The birds here haven't been anything like that. Divebombing....funny they don't get the rabbits...

I'm for sappy, too, but only at home. Hate having my makeup run in movie theatres.

I saw 'the Birds' when I was little, and it terrified me beyond belief. I'm pretty sure that I saw it before we had a color television. It could have much worse in color. Maybe that's why even now I don't like scary movies......AT ALL. I still have perfect mental images burned into my brain from that movie. There was the gas station erupting in flames, and the worst was seeing just the woman's hand with a bird pecking away at one of her fingers. I remember laying in bed the morning after seeing the movie, and hiding my head under the covers when I heard birds chirping outside my window.

And about those nasty blue jays......a pair of them came after me when I was about 7. I was under orders to 'put my bike away' when they attacked. The bike never did get put away that evening. For some reason, this event came up when we are all sitting around on Christmas. Mom and Dad claim that I wasn't actually pecked......just scared.

Pirl, I can't imagine what it would have been like to see my dad come home from work all bloody. I would have been scarred for life.

Though I wasn't scarred for life and I do realize the birds were protecting their young I just don't look at them the same way as other people do. I prefer the finches and the purple martins.

My son, now 43, and I were once watching a scary movie about "The Hand" and as he sat on the floor and I was on the couch I waited for the hand (minus a body) as it got closer and closer and I grabbed his neck. I think his body hit the ceiling.

I never did get around to seeing that one.

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

JAWS, me neither.

Wasn't "The Birds" was shot in black and white? I guess I wouldn't know for sure as we were one of the last to get a color TV, it seems, even though we were the first to have several TVs in the house (my older brother's fascination with vacuum tubes). I dunno. It just wouldn't be right in color.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

The clip burned into my memory is black and white. But we too were the last ones on the block to get a color tv, and when we finally did it was a hand me down.

Blue Jays and crows? Try an evil minded rooster. My father , career army had just come home from Japan so that made me about 4.5. My mother raised chickens and pigs and had turned the rest of the yard into a massive vegetable garden. We also had a collie who was my constant companion. She also had this wicked spawn of satan rooster who was out to get me. One day Mummy and my father were putting in new fencing around the pigs and the rooster came after me. I ran from the bottom of the yard allthe way to the back steps with him pecking at my calves and thighs. Hard on the back of him was Bonnie. When I got to the back steps I tripped and fell with the rooster on top of me and Bonnie was on top of the rooster with my parents bringing up the rear. We had chicken for dinner that night.

Sounds like a childhood nightmare. At least it didn't get your eyes.
