Clematis, if you could pick just 2 what would they be?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I have that Crystal Fountain, love it.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I've ordered it.

Victor do you have pics of the whole plant as well or with several flowers bunched?? I would love to see the full shots as well...

Betty Corning is just lovely!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Getting picky, are we?!! I have to look. I take more close-ups than full ones. Here is Ramona at night.

No sorry I don't mean to be picky....I love the close ups too but sometimes I just love to see the full range.....

Ramona I think will be a must have for me this spring!!! I love the way you have yours scrambling through the yard - very pretty!!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just playing, Dawn! The vast majority of mine (I have well over 60 now) are young so the plants are not that big.

(Zone 4a)

Mine either - my oldest clematis plants will be going on their 3rd year this year...they are small but I love 'em!!!

This is a not so good photo of my oldest one - Jackmanii covering my lamppost.

Here is Duchess of Edinburgh, which Pirl showed before. This is a large one.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Those are just brilliant!!! Gosh I wish I had more room in my yard!!!

Think I can convince Kim to get us a new house with a much BIGGER yard??? Hmmmm.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You're welcome. The nice thing about growing them through shrubs is that they don't take up extra room. Same with letting them ramble.

Jackmanii, before pruning, on the copper trellis Jack made.

Storm damage.

(Zone 4a)

That was a nasty storm you had!!! That clematis looks more like a tree when it is covering the trellis!!! That is one huge clematis vine you have!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I hope you noticed it's by the compost bin and with such constant "food" anything grown in that area does very well.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - humongous! How old is that clem? Did the copper just break?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

It's huge!! And beautiful!!!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The clematis isn't that old and grows like wildfire there. The copper just couldn't stand up to the storm that day. Now I use the pretty top at my potting bench and it makes a nice "window".

Here it is 5/21/07.

You can see how the clematis has covered the window.

The potting bench has a granite top now, courtesy of the kitchen renovation and the new Corian counter tops.

Your yard is truly amazing pirl!!!!! Truly!!! You and Jack are such wonderful gardners!! Although I am sure it is YOU who gives all those plants the love they need.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Dawn. He's in charge of grass, vegetables and the lupines in front. I'm in charge of supporting nurseries.

Clematis Henryi.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Henryi again. There are several clematis covering the fence of the dog's pen, which the dog uses for barking only. That gets him back inside quickly.

Thumbnail by pirl
(Zone 4a)

I am surprised that all those clematis don't drown out his barking!!! LOL

Very pretty!!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Harry doesn't leave the dog's pen if we're outside even if the gate is open.

(Zone 4a)

Harry is too cute!!! I guess he must be happy in his digs!

Don't they often say that pets and owners often resemble one another? Hmmm I think I can see a bit of resemblance to Jack LOL

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Too much hair on Harry!

Here's the best I can find of the clematis covering the fence.

Jackmanii and another one without a name.

(Zone 4a)

The pink one in the second shot looks like it could be comptess de bouchard...what do you think?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes, Jackmanii again. This time on the post light as Victor also has.

Thumbnail by pirl
(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It could have been a mislabeled one, Dawn, and just might be what you suggested. I know I never would have planted it there if it was pink. To my eyes it's more orchid than what the photo shows. Our nursery man has said the two most common errors made in greenhouses come from clematis and astilbe.

(Zone 4a)

Either way it is pretty - I love pink and purple together!!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

And you do a great job with them!

All beautiful, Pirl!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Victor. Maybe we could go on to show the ones we're buying this year.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I haven't thought about that yet.
