Must be because I have been quieter. You know I am the motormouth currently trying to obtain title of "fastest fingers in the west". hahaha

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Well be busy girl.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Keep it up - post post post!!

Longview, TX

Hopefully someone can help me. I've planted various seeds in containers in my greenhouse. In two of the containers, each, with different seeds, it looks like really fine hair sprouting about two to three inches high and it looks transparent like glass. Is this wierd thing a fungus or do I need to get a priest and have my greenhouse exorcised?

I vote for a priest! I have never seen such a thing!

Fungus - bet ya... did you use clean soil?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I am pretty sure it is a fungus, you might try spraying it with soda spray, 1 tablespoon baking soda to one quart of water, that might help.

Well Guys, we were #5 on the 12th, not very good, we need to do better.

Longview, TX

No I didn't use clean soil so I guess that was it. That's something new I've learned. It was a mixture of an old container plant soil & a mixture I got from a soil place. I will try that spray. Hopefully the thing won't crawl into the house tonight and get me. Incidently Josephine on that purple plant I'm leaning towards sharp-pod morning glory (ipomoea cordatotriloba because of the shape of the leaves rather than the ruella or petunia.

Frostweed....where would I find "extras"? I didn't see it as a pull-down tab.

Thanks...

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Go to your home page and at the top you will see green bar, on that bar the first word is extras, click on it and it will take you to a lot of neat things.
Let me know if you find it.
Josephine.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

James, that makes sense about the morning glory, I didn't think of that because you said it looked like a petunia, but if it is a vine I am sure it is this one:

When it blooms this year I'll check the flower and see if it closes in the afternoon to know for sure. I gathered a bunch of seeds because its everywhere in East Texas and on the sides of the road when I go thru Waco and there's always a lot of sulfphur butterflies around them.

Yes, they are common and some people hate them, but I think they are beautiful.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I love them here - you just cannot stop them, they keep going and going and going - you get the idea. Really wonderful no matter how you look at them in my garden - but I tend to let me plants grow to their hearts delight and that is not for everyone, if you ahve the room they are great.

I noticed you had a lead plant. An advertisement showed that butterflies really liked the lead plant. Have you noticed this with yours.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Mine is still small - but I have seen it wild and yes it is loved by butterflies. I have both of mine from Frostweed - she has a group that sells native plants each fall - good plants for great prices.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Were you guys talking about the Amorpha fruticosa?

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Josephine,

I found it, but couldn't open the links for the actual newsletters. Perhaps it's my puter? But thanks so much!
You're always so helpful!! :-)

Longview, TX

Josephine
If you were asking about me & Mitch, we were talking about the amorpha canescens. He says that you have a group that sells native plants in the fall. I'm very interested to know the details.,

Connie, that is very strange, sometimes it takes it a while to load, try again and maybe it will be better next time.

You are a very lucky woman.

How are the gardens at the church looking?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

They are looking great, although right now almost everything is dormant.
Last Sunday we worked there and spread the( holy hay )again, remember? two bales from the manger scene after they took it down, it makes excellent mulch.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

That is wonderful - and so very cute... how at the dantura there - did they get so big this year?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Not as big as the year before, that one was extraordinary.
