Second Chance Wishlist Swap #2 - Chat & Questions

By the way, if you have lots of pictures, why not take a look at www.photobucket.com?

Thank you both of you for all the good suggestions on making back up easier.
One of my problems is I always think I need to have stuff completely organized before I back it up. Then of course I never get to that point. Do you know what I mean? I like the idea of the external hard drive for that reason. It sounds like it would be easier to back things up and still be able to go back and organize stuff. This is a pain to do when you use disks -like I do. There could be a way to do things better with discs but I haven't figured it out. I usually get confused about what kind of disc to use so then I end up putting it off. (unfortunately it usually ends up being to never) I think I'm going to back up all the pictures I have on disc right now-Lol!

You may consider to use both ways of backing up. Some collegue's house had a burglary and his external hard-disk was stolen, together with his computer. There goes your back-up.....

Good point! I don't think a theif would want to steal your discs -that is unless your the Pamela Anderson-Lol!

OK Tuink, I'm going to continue hijacking this for a bit more - why did you chose to go with PhotoBucket rather than Picasa?

's-Gravenhage, Netherlands(Zone 8b)

Guess they ranked up higher at Google! PLus it's free, unless you want all kinds of extra's.

I've never heard of Picassa.....

It's a Google thing:
http://picasa.google.com/

Upon comparison, I think I would prefer PhotoBucket.

Thanks!!!

Has anyone tried the new one that's now at the bottom of the DG home page, Pixamo?

Scottsburg, IN(Zone 6a)

No - I haven't even scrolled that far in so long I forgot there were links down there. Dave's got this thing crammed with so much information!!!

Suzy can I ask you a non seed swap related question? I ordered canada lily seeds in Jan. 07, I never got around to starting them until 2 months ago. After your advice on storing lily seeds in the freezer, (which I did not do) I realize it is probably a lost cause. Do you think I could get any germination at all from them? I sowed about 108 seeds. I have had them warm for 2 months and planned on cold stratifying in February for 3 months. This is what the newfs recommended for the seeds - but it didn't warn about storing the seeds. I checked them for bulbs forming last week and I didn't see anything.
I also sowed michigan lily seeds, that were fresh from my garden, and the ones I checked had little swollen spots on the seeds. Is that a sign those are ready for cold?

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Seeds will be mailed tomorrow - computer is fixed (I think!)

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Meredith, I can't answer your question - -just stick them outside and hope for the best on your cold strat.

I used to use AOL's screensaver, but then they stopped it. Now we use picasa for our screensaver with lots of great photos incl my favorite garden photos of flowers etc. I like it and It works great. My only complaint is that every so often the google logo appears....sort of subliminal advertising! sneaky aren't they?

I dmailed Suzy....mailed out my seeds today :)

we also bought my first seed shelving rack this past weekend!!! and I can't wait to get it set up. I can finally get the geranium summer showers seeds started! I'm going to start with three 48" shop lights on the shelves.

That's pretty Wind, what are the purple flowers? Surely not Hosta blooms!

I was gonna ask the same thing. Very pretty. : )

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

the purple blooms are the Money Plant also known as: Honesty, Bolbonac, Moonwort or Silver Dollar

Lunaria annua early spring blooming biennial
once you get it established you'll have them every year :)
we have a nice patch by the road too and I've had people actually stop their car when it goes to seed and ask me if they can take some.

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

hey...how do you like our grass....I mean weeds!!!
