Now, go ahead and have a nice day - I dare ya !
Who else is doing what behind your back ?

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Mmmmm, that is just way too much. That is truely invasion of privacy.
I know Amazon monitors your looking and buying habits in their site and use this information to suggest other purchases and let you know about other products.
At first this kind of creeped me out, but I found some good suggestions for accessories etc. And I have come to accept the invasion. If you want to go on line, of course you have to expect that you will be giving out information, some you don't even know about.
But this...this is beyond anything I have ever even thought about. You can bet I will be reading the fine print on everything from now on!

Thank you for this posting. Always having to be more watchful and careful of whom you can trust. Certainly don't want to put your trust in companies always losing critical data.

Just remember, you can refuse to give out any personal information. No, they do not need your social security number. No, they do not need your telephone number. And no, they do not need your zip code.

For phone we just say it's unlisted now and they don't even bat an eye.

I could not open using the link. My security blocked it! They strongly advised no over-ride.

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

It's just an AOL news page with an article about Sears.

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

My security blocks lots of YE-WHO too. To which I say........YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeHoooo!

DFW area, TX(Zone 7b)

It's a harmless link explaining how Sears is tracking
and sharing your information. Also, they are now
being sued because apparently there is a way that
any nosy neighbor of yours wants to know what the
Sears truck just delivered to your house, all they have
to do is type in your address and every electrical
item you have bought and every appliance will be
shown. Somebody filed the law suit because apparently
it was a great tool for burglars, and also nosy folks.

Just trying to help here. Don't go look if you don't want to.

Mahnot,
In Texas are you? Who is your ISP?

Has anyone ever read what your ISP and the company that makes the software to "help" get your internet connection "working" want you to agree to when using their software?

I told them to stick it.
They are going to STEAL your information anyway, but if you give it to them you are more at fault than them.

Fight the good fight. :)

Hi, germinator. Well, I'm not all that computer
literate so many times I really don't know what
people are talking about when they start spouting
computereeze.

I defragged the thing today and I do that twice a year,
have it scheduled to do a complete security check when
I sign on. I delete my temporary files
every day automatically and my history, empty the
recycle bin, have the anti-virus scan set to check
every time I sign on - also anti-spy, have popup
blockers on, and I never give any company my email
address - I always say I'm a little old lady and I don't
have a computer and don't know how to use one.
If you don't mind a little scorn from the salesperson,
that's the best thing to do.

Not more than a dozen people in the world have my
email address, I don't have an address book on here
nor a buddy list - I'm not passing anything on automatically
and I never forward emails from somebody else. If there
is something in there that I want to send, I cut and paste it
in a new email. I'm not passing any virus along.

The thing that bothered me about the story is that the
store is so blatant about spying on you and is allowing
others to do so too. I haven't bought anything from them
for over 25 years, so this story didn't apply to me - just
thought it would make someone else aware.

Like I say, if PARANOID means that a person thinks they're
being watched and followed, what is the word for when they
think they are, and they are ? Can anybody say "they're right !"

hear hear!

Just a sidenote, identity theft insurance is only about 10 bucks a month. So sad it's an option these days. :(

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

I have Norton Anti virus and it also blocks spyware. So I guess I am not too worried about it.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

All the protection in the world does not help if the Sears site does not have information protected with a password. To be able to put in a address and see what was delivered to a house is just crazy.
I know people can get any information they want, but at least make them work for it. Put at least a little lock on the door.

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

I have big locks on the doors keyed on both sides of the door..........however anyone could get in with a hammer through the glass in the door or any other window.

I have security cameras and broken window sensors that instantly alert the State Police who have a grand sum total of two men on the road at night covering the whole county.

If I'm in the house Colt 45 is on my side and will remain so. Should I go to jail for killing an intruder I shall sit there knowing that I took one out during the final house breaking. Our state is in process making law giveing it's people the right to protect themselves and their property.

There is no personal business data on this or any computer I own. Why? Ans: Even with really good purchased protection a few pieces of spyware got through in the last ten days.

Doc, my minister says he believes in gun control.
He says you should keep your gun cleaned and
loaded and should know how to hit what you're
aiming at. Yep, he believes in total gun control. :o)

lol!

We practice what we preach. Our fifteen year old grandson received a Black Belt at age twelve. Three years later he absolutely and consistently out shoots me with rifle and hand gun. I can still whoop him at trap but my days may be numbered. In range shooting he wins hands down every time. He really likes those shooting range pop up targets at fifteen to twenty five yards. I think it is his marshal arts mental training and age that makes the difference.

Doc, you're right - mental attitude is everything.
My grandson is 13 now and when some boys at
the park started bullying him, he told them to stop -
he didn't want to hurt them, he said. They laughed
and started pushing more so he had to use his
martial arts training and did hurt them. They haven't
bothered him since and give him a wide berth when
they see him coming. The best defense is a good
offense. As he's an only child and has no brothers
to stick up for him, his father and mother figured he'd
better learn how to take care of himself.

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

Our grandson is being raised by his dad a single parent with our help and cooperation. His sport of choice and best liked is wrestling. He is undefeated so far this year. His total training is being supported by that superior for his age mental attitude. He wants to win in school grades, in sports, in music and all that he does.
He hates to lose but respects those who may be better than he at this moment. We can now give this lad nothing but example and time to mature.

All of this is quite common I have a program from google that I can set on any web site that tracks how many use the site where they came from ydda, yadda, yadda. Its the way of the web.
