Emailing a business with questions

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Opinions, please..

If you email a small business website "contact us" address, asking questions about services they offer, especially when the website says "please email us with questions", how soon would you expect a response?

I would hope in 2 days. Sometimes during garden show season there may be a delay, but I would hope you'd hear very soon. I have better luck with small business owners than the big corporate guys.

Hopefully you'll hear soon. Has it been a while already?

I agree - a day or two for larger businesses. If they don't answer within a week, then either write them off or try one more time. I wrote Rite-Aid (formerly Eckerds) off due to their non-response (seems to be plenty of pharmacies around who want your business).

If the business is very small, it may be weeks in which case you need to hit them several times to get their attention. I had to do that with an eBay seller this past year. They didn't get paid until they answered.

I've found that my mail to Yahoo recipients, for instance, goes right into the person's bulk mail folder. I am not a spammer, but my host's IP addresses evidently have harbored spammers in the past, so delivery of e-mail to Yahoo-using friends is sketchy. If a website is using a form which automates the sending of an e-mail to them, it is possible your e-mail is being file 13'd. I agree with HC - you may have to keep writing.

Or call them?

It's a horse riding instruction & training facility. I have learned from experience email usually yields a faster response than calling (as they are usually outside & away from the phone). I'm just surprised to be waiting for a response.

I'll probably give it a few more days, then try to write again.

Could be that they're so busy with the horses and classes, they don't check e-mail very often. You and I are used to living online. LOL In the case of this place, maybe a follow-up phone call would be warranted.
