Two days with sun debilu, I feel like it's spring! Not many hours but still good.
My lens has Vibration reduction so I can use it hand held, I couldn't be bothered using a tripod all the time. As you noted, the bird flies off!
I saw the Jackdaw wobbling on thin branches, it must have got hold of a budded twig then taken it to the branch.
Daily pics vol.49
Love the caught in the act one!!
Great pictures, wallaby - love the "caught in the act".
Abut the Robin's feet Gary pointed out in the last thread and Resin confirmed... I have noticed the gnarliness of their feet before, but seeing all the adult Robin's feet here look this way, I thought it was normal. Not sure what could be done about it, (any ideas?), they seem happy enough for the wear.
Check with a vet about getting some antibiotic or disinfectant you can put in their bathing pool. It would have to be something that is also safe for them to drink.

A good close up on the Wren pelle, was that with the big zoom? It looks a bit angry.
LOL, I think they always look that way.
Yes new camera/lens but taken through the window since there wasn't much light left.
Hopefully tomorrow we'll have good weather.
Thanks Resin... Though Robin doesn't really frequent the bird baths or the wee pond in my yard. If that changes I may try it.
debilu~ I really like the pic RBWP taking off!
Sweet wren Pelle!
Wallaby the Jackdaw is such a sleek bird. Wonder if he was pecking for a larvae that lives in the marrow of the limb on the oak... I've seen those in my Insect book, and I have watched birds go after them before. Just a hunch..oO :-
I think it might have been after larvae Deb, there must be plenty in the branches as the Tits are always feeding there.
I haven't taken so much notice of the Jackdaw before but they are not usually so close, taking pics of birds is very educational and fun. He looks very majestic doesn't he!
Nice pic GP!
Adel, I kind of like that spikey look!
Nice pics nanny!
Beautiful shots bsharf!!!
I love the Tricolored Heron!
Nice shots y'all!
Specially like the Stellar's hairdo Adel..:-S
This morning it is turning cooler here again.. (talk about your roller-coaster weather!)
Going out to get kids off to school there were flocks of Robins tweeting their heads off, and chasing each other around... Spotted about 25 or so of them out in the trees.
The feet on all I could get a good look at looked healthy.. And notice they aren't wading in the water, just drinking. I do add a conditioner to this micro pond.
bhaugh, it looks like a male Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.
this will sound stupid, but does that mean he's not a woodpecker?
He is a Woodpecker. :-)
ok, :)
thankyou, i am new to all of this at DG. i love taking pictures and never know the names of anything.....
I believe that Sapsuckers are in the Woodpecker family. ;-) We don't have the Yellow-bellied here, but they are quite similiar to our Red-breasted. They seem to prefer the sap of apple trees, and now, in colder weather they're eating the frozen apples left on the tree. I have several RBSS that frequent here. They have a favorite apple tree, and in warmer times I see them several times a day.
so, if i get feeders and put them in this tree, will he stick around and use it? should i fill it with regular seed and peanuts or find fruits for the feeders?
Other than sap and fruit, I've only seen the RBSS eat insects.
