Truetropicals77, thank you for the picture, I will try it on my next visit to your garden, look's delicious.

Miami, FL(Zone 10a)

i am back to work this week after taking a few days off for the holidays so i have been very busy.

FH mom yes i have b.odorata ong one of my favorites. i bought all of mine at PHOE(palm hammock orchid estate) it is in south miami. definately worth a trip if you love begonias. the rexes are gorgeous but i don't have any luck with them. the rhizomous ones i place in the ground and they love it.

true tropical i love philo!great pictures

placenciarita great pictures as well. i love all this inspiration for the summer. the philo in the tree i have no idea the name. the tree is a coral tree (erythrinia). as far as what i will put underneath i have a queenswreath, cherries jubillee allamanda. (i am open for suggestions though). maybe a jade vine?

candela, cherry jubillee allamanda is my favorite of the three plants you mentioned, but it can take over a garden (personal experience). Going to the big ear fest will give you a opportunity to get new aroids that will be lovely in that area .

Ariel73, I have just seen your before and after pictures. I never thought that would happen in florida. I bet by now they are putting out new leaves. Keep us updated on their progress. It is quite a treat to get pictures from Florida at this time of the year.

Teaxsbigleaves, nice to have you back. Your pansies are looking good, very bright and cheerful. I hope that you had a nice day off.
Do you know the name of this plant and did you ever get it to bloom for you? Mine is about 9' all and no flowers as of yet.

Can anyone jump right into the middle of things?
We have a wonderful Tropical Garden growing in our GH(ok we are hoping for it to be wonderful LOL) This is a wonderful trade I received from RJ(last year?) The Brug tops out at the roof, We keep having to trim it up, I think I got the better end of that trade.(IMHO).

This was taken yesterday. And with the GH closed up all evening it smelled great in there.

Great Photo's of the Pansies, I love those they add some much needed color to a Winter Garden.

Dallas, TX

Placenciarita, The only name i know it by is a " SEA HIBISCUS " I have no idea of its botanical name. Mine has never bloomed. Jerry

Sorry it has been a while. It has been a bit crazy around here.
Thanks for all the kind thoughts for my garden. It looks sad now, but I know that most of it will bounce back in the spring.
Spring will not come fast enough!

On another note if you want free $10.00 to spend at lowes, sign up on the gardening website learn2grow.com and you get a$10.00 coupon to print out.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Georgiagarden3,
what a lovely green house! Is it near your house? Looks like it would be right outside your back door! very nice.

Mitch...LOL.....now that is how my greehouse looks...I was thinking...my goodness Georgia has alot of spacious room in her greenhouse...and a mental picture of my green house and the careful choreography that must take place for me to turn on the halide light, water the back, or open the windows!

Looks like Lowes is trying to copy HomeDepot's gardening program that's been in effect for 6 months now..they also sent out a coupon...so lets work it!

Arlington, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks everyone, We where very lucky we got the GH from a friend that had never used it. It was way more than we needed for over wintering, So DH started turning it into a full time Tropical Garden. It is just over 100 ft from the house, it measures
24Wx90Lx14H (poly-tex garden mart normaly used at retail stores) it has sliding doors all the way around for easier summer cooling.

Ariel, I tried the learn to grow website yesterday but wasn't given a coupon :{ .

georgiagarden3, after seeing pictures of your greenhouse last night, I spent most of the day tidying and rearranging stuff in one of my greenhouses, so that I could put a little table and chair into it.
Love your cactus garden. I have one cactus plant.

Georgia, Great looking Greenhouse!!! Rita, Looks like the cassava (hope that's spelled right) is perking up! I just got my Gas and electric bill.... December cost me $300.

Red Oak, TX

Hi Rj, my dh was glad that I was rearranging stuff in the greenhouse and not the house.
Truetropical you spelled it right, it is going downhill very fast, still a few months to go. My bill was only $167 more than yours.

thanks ariel. i'll try again.
this is probably a question for the greenhouse forum, but since you mentioned it...i'm currently using propane, but my husband suggested we experiment with the kerosene heater as well because it might be cheaper. anyone have any experience with kerosene heaters?
