There is a traffic jam of fiddles trying to get out. I think there are so many, that some of them are getting deformed. I think I counted 5 . We are looking at the top of the fern tree.

cool picture. have you ever eaten fiddleheads?

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Tried fern tree here - bust in summer they could not get the water they needed... very sad but at least they were small and only cost about a buck each.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

No, had no idea there were edible!

Miami, FL(Zone 10a)

i am not sure about tree fern fiddleheads but some regular ferns (fiddleheads) are edible.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

oooh sheeew....that's one of my favorite plants...it was like someone asked if I've eaten cat before...LOL...I'm goofy today...1st day of vacation...lovely weather and didn't really get a thing done on a list that doesn't seem to end.

Candela~
I have been spying on all of these gorgeous pics. When I took a trip back to Boca Raton a while ago, I went to a garden tour where a house had its front yard filled with begonia odorata. They were in full sun looking gorgeous. I saw the picture of your other begonia. Have you tried begonia odorata and if so, did you purchase it locally? I have had a heck of a time tracking it down and I am going to be in the area again in March.

candela, thank you for the invitation. We will really enjoy meeting you and seeing your beautiful garden.
I am totally enjoying your pictures, nice surprise tonight to see all the new ones. We had a very beautiful day of sunshine. I did a lot of clipping and trimming in the greenhouses. Is the first picture a philo. verrucosum, and the tree a Gumbo Limbo? What are you planning to plant under it?

Truetropical, you really have a very nice camera, I had forgotton about the Philo. in the last picture. I will have to check on her today.
I really wanted to see pictures of other gardens like yours, especially that beautiful ginger plant, with the edible blooms.
I guess texasbigleaves is working the Dallas home and garden show, we probably will not hear from him for another week .

I am astounded. Just showed DH the EE and told him it is just down the road. Amazing.

Oh P-Rita, Here is that edible ginger.

LouC, unfortunately, that is the best it is going to look. The older they get ,the smaller the leaves become, with a long ugly trunk.
I will try to get some of the new hybrids at the big ear fest in may.

Would be more than happy to send cash with you for a tuber or two for myself.
