CLOSED: Mentor - Newbie Swap part 2

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY X!!!!!!!!!!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Sign me up as a mentor for zone 8, X. I don't know if I qualify as a mentor but I am on my way to an established perennial garden. I seem to do will with seeds, although cuttings is a still a challedge. Remeber the gardening book you passed along to me in fall of '06? Well, I think it's time to send it to a newer newbie.

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7b)

I'm willing to take one another mentee in zone 7 or 8. Most of my experience is with veggies and roses. Don't have much to swap right now, but got lots of advice. LOL

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Thanks Deb,

Just remember to let whomever you pass it on to know that they need to pass it along too after they don't need it.

tcs .........yes I have the scarlet milkweed and i also have a lot of the seeds as well.......... if someone needs/wants some I could send them some. This plant was a main attraction in my butterfly garden this last year :o)

I think that I thought that this mentorship was about how to grow plants from seeds.

That is what i need a guiding hand with .........

I have always just bought whatever the local nurseries were offering and planted them. Now as I grow more interest and see interesting plants that are not readily available I am interested in raisng them from seeds. When I was a child my family had a vegetable garden in our backyard and I can remeber planting seeds for the garden. I am reading about the different methods of starting seeds and I am probably tending to over complicate the entire process :o) which is what I have a tendency to do a lot of times.

I am not sure if this post belongs here or not ,,,,,,,, if not just delete it.

Has anyone heard from rosewynd? She posted once on the previous thread, and i have dmailed her but she only responded once, and didn't provide her address. I can demailed again but I haven't had a response. She is not listed in the address list.

Any ideas what I should do next?

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Seandor, if you like I can match you up with mellymass who needs a mentor, if rosewynd shows up you can either take two or we'll find her another mentor. Let me know what you want to do.

Mellymass sounds great! If rosewynd shows up, I can probably do her as well.

Do you still need a newbie from zone 9??

I;m in zone 8B and am winter sowing for the first time this year. Looks like all the spots are filled for newbies for that zone. If you pick up another mentor I'd love to join.

Cayuga, IN

do you have any mentors left for 5a (central Indiana) I garden, but I would like to learn from a more experianced gardner :0) Thanks Rose

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Hi Rose,

I'll be happy to put you down as a newbie but if you are already a gardener, you should be a mentor to someone who is just starting out. Let me know if you'd be interested in being a mentor?

X

Scottsburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Hi X, and thank you for starting this (and belated Happy Birthday)! I'm a newbie to seeds in 5b, but have some experience with actual plants. If you've got anyone who is looking to mentor a newbie-seed person in 5b I'm available! I'd also be happy to help where I can with existing plants.
Robin

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Robin,

you are NEW to seeds??? I never would have guessed.. .

Terese

Saint Cloud, MN(Zone 4b)

OK-I think I need some clarification.
Please let me know if this is for Newbies or new people to gardening.
I thought it was for helping new members of Dave's which is a project that I hold dear to me. A nice warm welcome. I noticed that wizz47 only started in October and was told she should be a mentor and others who have been here much much longer are newbies.

I am very confused. I understand that old members can be new to some aspects of seeds...and I hope no one takes offense, I just signed up to help new members feel more at home and comfortable. So please...take me off the list. I will continue to contact new members on my own.

Please no offense, I just misunderstood the reason for this thread.
Robbi

Savannah, TN(Zone 7a)

I'd love to have a mentor for my first year of winter sowing! Zone 7, West TN.
