Great thread idea!
This Rufous shot will always be a favorite. I'd taken so many shots of them, and finally got lucky.
favorite pic from this year?
Omigosh!
Now, try to pick a favorite from those posted. No way!
These photos are taking my breath away!
Picking a favorite from these is like voting on that calendar. How can you pick?
Paul... I have to ask.. do you make your own suet or is that the wren is eating store-bought? I can't find any with that much seed in it... what I find is mostly goo.
Judy, you have D-mail.
( I didn't want to get off topic here)
Thanks,
Paul
Hi Paul, We do have a recipe suet thread if you make it yourself or would like to look at some of them.
Heres the link:

TL that Rufous shot is awesome! Reminds me of the "mad bluebird" photo you see on everything.
I'll bet she could sell that photo. It blew me away!
Wow, so many talented photographers! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful pics!
Great idea!
As I lost all my pics in the great computer crash, I had to copy one of mine I posted from an earlier thread. This is where the beauty of not having a water mark comes in, if I crop it off I will lose too much of the top, I guess I will end up with a double water mark.
I have/had many favourites, but the one which instantly came to mind was mom with baby Wood Pigeon.
That is a great one!
That is just precious!! Wallaby - Did you try to get a computer expert in to recover the photos? Lots of times they can, even though they appear to be gone forever. That would just devastate me!! And by watermark - do you mean copyright?
Those are such beautiful birds!! And what a unique picture. Got the undertail coverts too!
I'll add mine, knowing that it isn't nearly as good as the rest. I got a new DSLR camera in late August and I am on a learning curve, but managed to get a few lucky shots on a trip to Africa. This is an African Fish Eagle, much like our Bald Eagle - very majestic.
Beautiful shots guys!!!
OMGosh, ceejay what are you talking about, "not as good as the rest"? That is a great pic of the eagle! I love the way the light is shining through the tree on him. Was it taken early in the morning?
Grasmussen, I was HOPING that your favorite would be the BWs. Your pictures of them are some of my favorites amongst all the postings. And I gotta tell ya… that shot cracks me up. Thanks!
Gras' waxwings = Judy's new screensaver! TOO STINKIN' CUTE!
ceejay, yes the watermark/copyright. I did search around for pic recovery, could send the disc to experts who dismantle the hard drive in layers to read the files on specialist equipment, would have cost a minimum of GBP 500 ($1,000) for the amount of files I had. I also rang someone locally to enquire, all they wanted was to replace the hard drive and kept me on the phone blabbering away, sounded like a drunk to me, I fixed it myself for free!
That's a great shot of the African Fish Eagle!
Sweet baby pic Jane!
Very crisp shot of the Heron Troy!
Grasmussen, such a funny shot! I want to put captions to it, "look at my bottom" "what, expect me to look at that?!) lol!
Thanks, wallaby1.

Thank you for all of the nice comments.
On March 19, 2007, I stopped at the gas station near the house to fill the trucks tank. I was surprised to see a small flock of Waxwings in the Balsam Poplar trees (Black Cottonwood) along the edge of the stations lot. I drove home, pick up the camera, and return not expecting them to still be in the trees. Obviously, the Waxwings were still there with excellent lighting and a blue sky. Apparently they were feeding on the balsam sap witch had formed droplets on the underside of the branches. I captured a number of pictures with the birds looking like contortionist.
Here is one more picture from the set.

I would love to see a Waxwing in person! :) GM
Blue Glancer… Nice "Fishfinder" Ha ha.
Very nice photo's. They are very inspiring.

Thanks PeeperKeeper; very kind of you. The eagle was taken at approximately 6:30 PM - evening, and it got dark around 7 to 7:30 there. So it was a sundown shot.
We have Cedar Waxwings come through here, and if you're lucky you are home when they gather in a flock and eat all of the berries on the holly tree before moving on. Unlucky is when you arrive home to find the berries all gone and no Waxwings to be seen. Ah - next year maybe... They are so pretty, but those Bohemian Waxwings are awesome.
Nice shot. I love the all the grays tones with just a touch of color in the WBN.
Nice White-breasted Nuthatch Beclu!
How exciting was that to have happen,a tame, friendly Nuthatch! Great Pic!
Nice White-breasted Nuthatch shot and experience Shan!
Gardenpom
That bird is neat looking What kind is it.Our birds have flown south for the winter Except sparrows and chickadees.
Hi Perennial, Her pic is a Great-crested Flycatcher. :-)
Oh I love that photo Shan! I would love to experience that someday. Did it take you long to get the nuthatch used to you?
So many impressive pics - I have nothing to compare. I did enjoy following this egret around one day, though. Their visits are always memorable, because our parrots act like the sky is falling and fly all over the house screaming like...well, parrots!
Thanks to everyone for posting their pictures to share - Resin and others for all the IDs, Pelle for organization, just the whole darn gang for making this such a happy place to visit each day.
Very nice pic kaperc! I love it!
