AlohaHoya Tour volume 2.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

OH shame on you Jenny for making my mouth water like that about your bruggies! LOL
Is Spring here yet????

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

Well, they are not such a pretty sight today...

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I just can't wait to have my own purdy blooms to show off! Maybe one day....

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

Just know they will come through for you, just need some warmer weather and a little age..they are worth the wait, what an astounding sight they are.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

And how cool it will be to be able to tell people I got some from my dear friend in Hawaii! ♥

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

My collection is steadily growing, should have some pretty ones to share come spring.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Trying so hard to be patient, but it sure isn't easy! LOL

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Jenny...I know you are short of room...but i am bringing you some brug cuts when i come!!! On of them stays quite small and would be perfect for a lanai....

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh Carol, me too.

Ooopps forgot probably can't take with me. But your daughter has a certified nursery. You can help me figure all of that out to keep security happy.

Christi

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Jen, mine are still green and beautiful! Can't wait for them to bloom!

Happy New Year's everyone!

Carol...I just love your Trophy Tree...but then, I guess I've already said that. Randy, be careful not to let those frost blankets act like a sail, and carry you to your disgruntled neighbors yard! What do you do with the things in the front of the house, and on the parking strip? Do they accept the cold weather okay? Carol and Jenny - our mainland friends in the snow may not appreciate your weather frustrations, but I do...one of the main reasons I wanted this forum in the first place! Here we are all supposedly living in eden like locations, but we still either get too much rain, not enough rain, killer winds, mud slides...etc.etc.etc (roll them r's Yul!), Just goes to show, nothing is perfect, but its ALL good! And as far as the snow goes, yes, I remember quite well, going out of my supposed mind waiting for Spring, but then the crocus and windflowers would start poking out of the snow, and there was nothing I wanted to do more than just watch them! So pretty, so full of promise! I miss that here...nothing that speaks of the cycle of life quite like that.

Go Warriors!!!!!
Aloha and Yokwe and Happy New Year!!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I donno bout the mud slides, but I sure did take a fall on some slippery mud the other day!

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Tammy - sure hope you are okay! Mud is the worst!

Hillsborough , NC(Zone 7a)

Carol, that would be wonderful, new blood to add to my collection, thank you. You are going to have to give me a crash course on keeping a brug in a pot on the lanai, I have very little shade, and you know how hot it is in Kihei. When I get wealthy (LOL) I am going to get a roof put over the lanai, if they can figure out how to do it. I tell you, it's the money pit!
Not long now!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

The Cotton Bowl was today and my fav college team crushed the other team!! MU Tigers rule!!

Slippery mud is a pain. When I had my chickens I would run down to the gate and if it was wet I would slip right there and fall. Always ended up staining my jeans. lol. Right now our roads are a muddy mess due to the county not caring for them properly this year. We had very little gravel before the storms last month and now we have none due to the ice and snow. But they plan on fixing it in the spring so only a few more months of mud roads. :~)

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Shari! Still have a few 'tender' spots, but I somehow landed on Sienna's plastic horse instead of straight in the mud! LOL I'm told I tried bracing myself about 10 different ways in about 3 seconds, so guess I moved purty fast for a fat gal! HA HA HA

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Ouch!! Landing on the horse had to hurt!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Well it did stove me up a bit in my back, shoulders, and hips, but the only mud on me was my shoes! LOL I used to love making mud pies as a kid, but I think I have grown up since! HA HA HA

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Not me!!!! Still love the mud and play in it with my truck all the time. But now since we have so much salt laying around I have to wash it tomorrow. :~( I love to roll in the mud too when I get the chance which isn't often. LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Well next time you decide to take a roll in the mud be sure to post a pic! I am sure we would all love to see miss pepper caked in mud! LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL!! Usually when I do something crazy there is never a camera around.

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

ROFL! Oh Pepper...you are always so good for makin me laugh! Can just picture it - out in the paddock, you rolling on one side and horsie rollin on the other! ROFL!

Tammy - take care of your back! Nothin to fool with!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

That would be the pic of a lifetime, might even have to set that one as my wallpaper! HA HA
Been taking advil for my back, and it is better. I used to see a Chiro, but it is too expensive to go 3-4 times a week! I am suppose to wear a lift in one of my shoes for one of my hips being lower than the other, but too much trouble when you like open ones. ☻ I can't even have a standard vehicle anymore cause it hurts to drive one, and I love em. Especially a truck with loud pipes! LOL

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Oh, you tomboy!!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL. My pipes are a single glass pack with 2 tail pipes. Due to 4x4 and 2 gas tanks couldn't fit duelers on there. There is just enough noise to make me happy and not to wake up neighbors at 6:30am.

As for rolling in the pasture with horses I will have to try for that this spring if I remember. That would make a priceless picture and even I would use that as a wallpaper!! LOL

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I used to have a beautiful 2000 Ford F-150 EX Cab, Step Side that had dual pipes with glass packs. I told them I wanted it as loud as legal would allow! I love it and miss it terribly! But that is what I had to give up to afford staying home with Sienna the last year before she starts school, and it is worth it! ♥
YES, gotta have that pic pepper!!!!

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL!! I will try on the pic this spring.

My truck is a 96 regular cab. I like it. Great gas mileage for a truck, and it has only had a few problems which thanks to working with a mechanic everyday I can get fixed quickly if needed.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Trucks are so much fun! Sure do miss mine, even being a gas hog and a money pit! LOL

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

You gals are my kind of people!!! When we came here I saw a truck for sale.... 1981 Toyota, Orange, flat bed... It was love at first sight! Belonged to a car nut...sounded like Marlon Brando!!! We bought it...but less the overhead cam, les the....less the.... DH is a bit of a stick. love that truck, anyway!!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

I can just see you hauling all your purty plants around on that orange flat bed truck! :) How handy that would be!!! :) I learned to drive a stick in an old wood truck, no mufflers, rattled all the way down the road, and loved every second of it! LOL

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

YUP...I am the Mother Trucker in the Pumkin Truck!!!! We love it....everyone in Hilo knows it because the previous owner is the Detail Guy at the Toyota Dealership...he would die if he saw our Farm Truck!!!!!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

LOL You will have to post a pic for us with it loaded down with plants!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Hi everyone and Happy New Year! I just found the thread(s) and have to say, Carol, I am gobsmacked at the sight of your garden. I've been to the beautiful islands twice (DH and I were married near Kona) and just love seeing pictures of anywhere there, but your place is exceptional. Great pictures, Shari.

Christi, I am so glad you are going for a visit - you will be in heaven. I think if everyone went there just once we would have a happier world.

Kathleen

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Kathleen, I still have to pinch myself every morning to see if I'm dreaming. Jenny may have a hard time getting us to leave. hahahaha
My area is so awful this time of year it appears it can never recover. But I know it will, it always does.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Thanks for the compliments?!!! I am off this a.m. with a cart and 32 gals. of Round UP...murdering weeds!!! First morning with no rain in....5 weeks!!!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

I will be doing the same soon, Carol. Figured I'd wait until there's some real green showing after the upcoming rain so it will 'take.'

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, you little sneaks!- Not letting on there was a new thread!!!
Carol, any tips you can give to get the Medinillas to bloom? I have one that hasn't bloomed for me in several years. Am I supposed to be cutting it back?

Rio Rico, AZ(Zone 8a)

Diane, no sneaking! Honest!! I said I was gonna start another one...sorry if you missed that, but you found us!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Lets start one on Medinillas...OK?

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds good to me! I need all the help I can get with this one. I bought it online because, as usual, I've never seen this one any where around these parts. Have had it for about 5 years now
