We all enjoy each others company so much, that No.1 got waaaay too long. Just have a few more to post, but who knows what we will start chatting about in the in-between.
Christi - no worries love, with all this guidance, and Jenny's caring arms when you land, you are going to have the trip of a lifetime!
Carol - super tips! Thanks for the reminder...they all work!
1a. Earlier we were talking about toads...well, in some thread, somewhere....anyhoo...look right in the middle and you will see one of Carol's visitors...
AlohaHoya Tour volume 2.
Now that's some excellent camouflage!
well, that certainly falls under "the face only a mother could love" category. hehe
My poor lost daughter...at last!!!!! NOT
Hey I had to come find ya all! ☺
Just don't ever mistake a toad for a frog and eat it....some can be deadly! That happened to some guys stationed in Hawaii while we were there! Killed 'em dead! I know.....wonderful thought to take out 2007!
Yeah...they secrete a kind of hallucinigen...Thelma (one of our dogs) got hooked and used to bite them and in order to stop all her organs from shutting down we had to flush her stomach and rinse her mouth...pretty awful. The only good toad is a dead one!!! They roll in them...but shampoo is easy to put on!!! Cane Toads... Thanks OZ!!! Love you, Christy but some of your mates are Fair Dinkum!!!
Good Morning, Lot's to do on this the last day of 2007. Where did it go?
Hey, did you notice the Newsletter today? Tropical Gardening is #2 in chatter.
And Texas has dropped to #23 having been more than TG in the past. In my other life I was called "motormouth". Recently I have increased my typing speed by more than double. Any connection?????
Funneee Christi...'motormouths' of the internet age now must posess typing skills!!! Sorry Christi..it seems that I'm always following you around!!! We're hopping all over aren't we?
Well, tis all these tropical pics that only TG monopolize and...(just overlook the few snow pics posted) plus all your gregarious natures culminates to a perfect culture for amicable, if not amenable, chatter!
What say you froggies? Luv-it..luv-it...luv-it!
I luv it too...although I am not much of a chatterer...lol. I mostly like to listen to you guys and gals! Thanks!!
Gardens are super, plants are entertaining...and everyone on this forum are(is?) all that PLUS kind, funny, caring and whacky!!!
Tomorrow the University of Hawaii is playing in the SugarBowl and everyone here is(are?) totally dilerious.!!! Never before have we had a team take football to this level and while most snort and poopoo Hawaii as a serious team....we are all excited because they ARE. Unless there are some serious Georgia fans here...hope everyone roots for the Warriors...!!!
From one who is not a fan of any sport.......Yay! Hawaii!
I'm a diehard LSU fan, but tomorrow I'd be wearing white just for my sisters!! All because they have heart!!
"Eo na toa, eo na toa e!!!!"
Geauxxxxxxxxx Hawai'i!!!
Said to self ... "I must be sister Christi's shadow"
Mahalo.... :>)
hahahaha! Oh Jaye, Love you so much. Would that we close to enough to hug your neck. (((((((((hugs)))))))...Carol, ((((((((hugs)))))).
That will have to do for a short while.
Everyone be safe out there tonight and have fun! ♥
Warrior fever was permeating the islands while we were there...I can just imagine it now! Go Warriors!!!!!
We all follow Christi...it is inevitable...she is the magnet and the glue, and of course The Queen of Everything and Princess of quite a lot!
Glad you liked the toad pic...Thelma was with us when we saw it, wasn't she Carol? You must have had a strong hold on her!
3a: Can't have an AlohaHoya Tour thread without the main attraction!
I was wondering if the pics were all done, glad to see more! :)
Just absolutely amazing!
Hawaii is undefeated too..aren't they?
Stunningly beautiful....I can't boast a hoya in my gardening repertoire. About to change that.
Yes RJ, and so is Patriots!!! Yeahhhh!!
Glad I caught you before I close down for awhile.
Got to get ready to go to our friends for the quiet little celebration. Been doing it with the same friends for 40 years.
Happy New Year's, lovey.
It's ok, I found ya! LOL But the other one is still going strong, too! HE HE HE
Happy New Year and Blessings to you and your family, Christi! Have fun!
Wonderful job Shari!! Thank you so much for sharing your joy with us! Hope 2008 allows you more opportunities to visit great friends, family and lovely gardens!
Thanks Shari!
Now I can add to this next week! Not that you missed anything! Do you think I'll drag a sleeping bag out there..and just camp ...I'm suppose to bring sunshine with me..
We sure had a gorgeous day today...! I spent the morning wrapping up my fox tail palm tree, stuffing the green house with the plants I had left outside...watering thoroughly, covering plants with frost blankets..and stuffing the garage with larger plants. We have "Canadian" cold front blowing in..matter of fact the winds just shift from the north, and we are going to be in freezing temps the next two nights. I think this is the first time I've had time to cover the plants in nice weather. Usually it's after work around 10pm with fridgid winds numbing my hands and blowing the frost blankets everywhere except of coure the intended location. Yes, I'm the crazy neighbor with frost blankets whipping in the night accompanied by my muttering of colorful phrases.
The brugs are really blooming too...I really dislike it when the freezes come and defoliates the garden...of course, they can start leafing right away when the temps are 78F forecasted irksome degrees next week....growll..grump ...whine.....
LOL. You think it is gonna be cold there you should be up here tonight and tomorrow night. Lows supposed to hit single digits at night and tomorrow's high only in the LOW 20s. 30 for Weds. I don't think we have hit the singles yet this season so it's about time.
Especially loved the last photo.
As Carol said, big football game tomorrow, I think all of the islands will be watching! Not me, I am working because all the guys just HAD to have the day off!
Freezing cold and rainy here today - only reached 72 degrees for us, had to find the sweatsuit - we are so not used to chilly weather.
Aloha to you all
Sorry to know this show is over, but glad to hear that there will be others soon! Hope you all are enjoying the last little bit of 2007, and that 2008 brings more blessings!
I have enjoyed this tour more than I can say! It is refreshing to see my world as others see it!!!
That last photo is an old loquat tree we have been cutting back and I just keep sticking stuff on it!!!; Medinilla, bromiliads, vandas, tillandsias...I think there is a hoya or two on it too.... i call it my Trophy Tree!!!!
Jenny...so sad to hear you are cool! we have had 4 solid weeks of ^%$**&^))!!! rain and temp not above 74. When we wake up in the morning we say....Up Periscope!!!
Now...we say that because it is so rainy!!!!
Carol
Gosh - four weeks! I thought your weather had settled Carol. I hate to tell you, but I think more is on it's way when it's done with us! Here I am whining and complaining - and freezing! I feel so sorry for the folks on the mainland, I don't think I could take the snow anymore.
Yesterday I had 21 different brugs blooming in the garden, today they are hanging like dishrags.
