In Go Gardening, would it be possible to

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

have the addresses and phone numbers on the first search page so you can print them all out in 1 step? Now I have to open each entry and copy and paste the nurseries' address onto a new page to print out all that are in the same general area. Very time consuming.

It would be so great to be able to just do the search and have the address and phone number show under the location column.

That way I could print the page and run and have them all to enter into my GPS.
Thanks Dave

Or even have it written under the name of the nursery in the first column. Looks like lots of room there to have it go straight across immediately under the name.
Thanks

Oh, yes, I like that idea, very handy to have the address info right on that list.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I agree--that would be very helpful!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Well I guess it can't be done. Thanks anyway.

I found this list for more local nurseries that I am printing out. It is great, has addresses and phone numbers. Seems to have lots but not all. Only places that sell Annies plants, which probably are the best. I just wish it went further out. Have either of you found any other lists online for our area with the info easily accessible?

I am going to see Zuzu this week and we are off on a bamboo hunt. LOL! So of course I wanted other nurseries that may be nearby. We have to find some bareroot roses for Zu, but of course. We should have good places to lunch too on the lists. LOL My 2 downfalls, good eating and good plants.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Don't give up yet Kell--I haven't seen Dave post too much over the last couple weeks so I suspect he took some time off over the holidays.

As far as lists of nurseries--I have one that I got with my Berkeley Bot. Garden membership that lists all the nurseries that give discounts to members...unfortunately it's on a piece of paper rather than on web page somewhere. But here's a very similar list from Strybing: http://www.sfbotanicalgarden.org/membership/page6.html You can also get a list from Monrovia's website of nurseries near your zip code that carry their plants--pretty much every nursery I go to has their plants, maybe you'll catch a few there that you didn't pick up from Annie's site.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Happy New Year to you, Liz!!! I plan to start it off well by going to a few new nurseries. My main thrill in life. LOL

I just rejoined Berk Bot so I got that list too. I need to find where I put it plus my new card. The owner of Dry Garden always asks to see it before he does the discount.

I will go look at Monrovia, great info! Thanks They have a new very hot variegated vine I must buy for me and for Ada on here. It was supposed to come out in the fall so I wonder if Armstrong can order them for me. When you see it, you will want one too Liz. LOL We NEED it.

I just spent the last hour googling lists of nurseries north in Zuzu's domain. I can't believe how many there are. I may have to move there for a month. Even Zu hadn't heard of many of them. I am on page 10 in printing the list out.

That google link says there are 1,227 nurseries near Sebastopol. No wonder I have no time or money for anything else.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Zuzu. Really. I am on page 12 now and no end in sight. We shall be so busy. I wish they had them listed by town. I bought a binder for my nursery addresses so it will be easier for us to find our way now. You will be in charge of it as we make our way thru them all. LOL

Liz, I found the must have Monrovia plant. See it and weep.

That is a beauty--I had seen pics of it before and fell in love so I'll definitely be looking for it too!

I'm going to be really impressed if you two can make it to 1200 nurseries...how long are you planning to spend up there? LOL!

I added the phone numbers and addresses to the advanced search. Check it out and let me know if this is what you had in mind!

Whoo Hooo, YES! Thanks Dave!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Dave!

Happily! :)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Better than perfect for the ratings still show up for those unknown nurseries. Thanks so much Dave. Now I need to pick a whole new destination and print all the new nurseries out and take a road trip!!!

On my hunt last night I came across this site which is totally built around the Garden Watchdog. There is a Garden Watchdog box by each nursery that takes you to its very own GW page. I thought you would get a kick out of seeing it, Dave.

Miss Liz, I am putting in a request at Armstrongs for 2, want me to make it 3? I bet we can make a dent in 1200, LOL. We have incredible nursery stamina. The reason I am so hot to have their phone numbers with their addresses is that inevitably when 5 PM comes, we still have nursery lust in our souls. So we need to be able to call whichever nurseries happen to be close to where we find ourselves to see if they are open to 6 PM. We like to squeeze the last ones out. Then after 6, we show how addicted we are by going to the big store nurseries like Lowes, HD and Target to ease our withdrawal. Pretty pathetic, I know. LOL

Hi Pretty Sue. Where have you been? I have not seen you around. I was just thinking of you yesterday again! Did you go away?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

If you could request 3 that would be wonderful! Thank you so much! I'm supposed to buy less plants this year because I've pretty much run out of room in the greenhouse and in my garden, but what's one more especially when it's so pretty! So I'll get this one, and then the 20 new hibiscus that I must have, and then I'll stop. I promise! LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Liz. You sound like me. I am so out of room it is ridiculous. We both need to move where there is some land. I need some new hibiscus too. I should email you and get your insights into from where. I think I need to place an order soon to rush in spring. I am so ready for it.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

My dream is someday to own many, many acres right next to the ocean (of course I need to either win the lottery or marry a billionaire in order for this to happen!). At the very least I'd like to get a couple of acres somewhere, but the only places I can afford that amount of land right now are too far from my job, and I'm not ready to give up my 10 minute commute! When I retire though I'm for sure moving--right now I've got my eye on Sonoma county, near the Russian River area somewhere.

None of the hibiscus places are shipping yet but they're starting to take orders and the good ones sometimes disappear pretty quickly (I didn't start collecting them until late spring/early summer last year, so they were already sold out of a lot of the nice ones). Hibiscus Place started taking orders yesterday and Hidden Valley Hibiscus opens tomorrow. This year I'm also going to try getting a few from Robert at Hypnotic Blooms, his website says he'll be up and running around 1/16.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

I have been here, reading and occasionally posting. Just too depressed over no mula now to join in this years mad dashes through the nurseries. I can't even afford to 'go away!' I hate to even click all these great links, oh well, it will give me time to try and finally organize what I already have, which sure is plenty!

Pity party for one! LOL

Hey, but I do have good news, my daughter and family are moving back in with us in March and son just got engaged, marrying probably early May. So 1 out, 4 back in, at least until they get enough together to find their own place again. Bring on the stress! What won't kill me will make me stronger...or something dumb like that. I bet it will just make me have more gray hair.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Sue, I'm so delighted that your daughter's moving back. You've missed her and her family so much. This is truly wonderful news!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

I know Zu, it is a bright light for me, to get my grandkids back!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You and me too, Liz. I would love to live close to the ocean on acres of land though I am getting too old for all that land now. I am slowly becoming a lookiloo. Funny, Sunday and again today I was chatting with Brin and also Lali girl about buying more lottery tickets that actually win so we could all become accustomed to living the way we were meant to be living. I was on 17 mile drive the other day and I want to live in one of those houses. LOL!! So is the Russian River area frost free? Thanks for the hibiscus info, I am hot on it.

Wouldn't it be funny if we all converge on Zuzu's location? I know Lali girl almost just moved to Santa Rosa, Sue wants to live in that general area and I am up for grabs. I was looking at this website last night and thinking I may like one of these cities if I could find the perfect microclimate of cool summers and warmer winters. LOL
http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dream_home_2008/text/0,,HGTV_30596_65584,00.html

Oh poor Sue, you may have to break down and get a job. Horrors. But the call of the nurseries are hard to resist. I think we can all do without new clothes etc, but no new plants would be so tough. I so remember how sad you were when your daughter moved. How great she is coming home. March will bring all good things then, your family and spring!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

That would be funny if we all ended up near Zuzu! Maybe we could all buy houses by each other and have garden parties every day! I don't know if the Russian River is frost free--probably not totally frost free but a little better than where I am now. I think it's a little cooler than Dublin in the summer too. But I won't be up there for many years yet--have to wait until I can retire or else find a job where I can work from home the majority of the time. And even if I found that work from home job now, I just bought this house a year and a half ago and I've sunk a lot of money into landscaping, granite countertops, etc so I need to stay here until I make my money back!

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

You can't go wrong with 1,227 nurseries nearby.

green with envy here!

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

I think the house next door to me is in foreclosure. It's a great time to snap up one of these places up here.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Zu you better be careful, you will have all of Dave's moving to go to your 1,227 nurseries. You will get no peace. LOL

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Just what I need, Kell. Peace and quiet are overrated. There's nothing I'd like more than a garden party every day, and think how happy the cats would be with all of that company.
