Can you believe I am the first one up? And it is already past 8 am? Anyway, there are a couple of long narrow presents with my name on them lying under the Christmas tree . . . . .I suspect they may be florescent "grow lights"!
Anyway, I thought I would start a thread to see what Santa (or others) gave us for the gardens.
For those who don't celebrate Christmas, but may exchange presents at this time of year, let us know if you received anything nice for the gardens.
"Nice" can be the seed packet of your favourite plant - or the mini-tiller you always wanted (I wish!)
hummmm..... I think I hear someone stirring upstairs . . . I should find out what Santa brought pretty soon! :-)
Santa Came!
I beat you - my kids were up at 6am but thanks to stocking stuffers they allowed us to stay in bed till 7ish. Then we all headed downstairs for the big event! It was so much fun watching the little ones. Hannah loves her doll that talks and drinks from a bottle and Emily's favourite was a digital camera for kids.
I already got my gifts - the new table/chairs and a new minivan! I must have been a good girl.
Hubby is now putting everything together and putting in batteries etc for the girls...my job is to shop and wrap and now it is his turn LOL!!!
Being the daylily lover that I am, I was estatic to find I will be getting a double fan of 'Carolina Bound' this spring.. This flower was featured on the cover of the 2006 Eureka Daylily Guide and sold for $100. http://www.mariettagardens.com/2006/carolina_bound.htm
Also got a soft thick bathrobe from LL.Bean in the color of 'Larkspur', a 5lb. Hershey Bar, a set of 4 fairies from Ashton Drake...Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Also got all the materials needed for my new garden, and to many things to list. Im spoiled, what can I say!
I scored BIG TIME! Got a shelving unit - 5 shelves, plus 4 florescent shop lights - and 8 florescent light tubes - plus LOT of metal plant markers, and superthrive, and that's just the stuff for plants.
Also got a purple sweater, and new parka jacket (blackberry coloured) with a hood and even has inside pockets marked for keys and cell phones! (don't have a cell phone)
And a new wallet. and way too much chocolate.
. . . . I am thoroughly spoiled!
I hope you are spoiled too :-)
I got a 500mm camera lens, so I can take photos of birds in my garden.
I too am spoiled.
I got a mug that says "Garden Goddess" - and too much chocolate, and a book of coupons from my daughter "I'll clean out the car" "I'll listen to you read your article out loud to me" that I suspect will never be redeemed... but I am loved and adored and treated like a goddess.

I too made out really well. I got presents from all the furballs (cats, dogs, rabbit, fish) and hubby. I suspect that hubby did the shopping. Got a couple of sets of PJs (someone had chewed a hole in my old one). Also got a digital camera to take pics of the garden, a cell phone (which I have never had before), gift certificate to my favorite fabric/sewing store and a black and decker alligator chain saw to cut down brush and expand the flower bed. Somehow it seems like I am always running out of room. It looks like a combination between a large limb lopper and a small chain saw. It is light enough for me to handle easily and looks like the various guards will make it very safe to use.
HI!!!!! I got a head light from Eddie Bauer, a book lamp , gift cards from old navy and tons of things I gave myself... totally horribly spoiled... my mom cooked a wonderful dinner... and can't forget books for the next 2 classes, the best peanut brittle and lollipops ... gorgeous handbag... and more than anything I get to spend xtmas with my family after 24years... so that was really great...
Pixie, that is an amazing piece of pottery. I had never heard of such a thing before. Thank you for sharing the pic or else I would not have figured it out.
The grow-ups didn't exchange presents cause My kids were broke and I had already given both girls quite a lot throughout the year. But Sarah did give me Colin's Christmas photo and Jenn gave me a sign for our pop-up that I bought for the family last summer. The sign was "Duaniac II" in the form of a license plate and named after my brother's snowmobile "Duaniac". It was the money that my brother, Duane, left me when he died that allowed us to get the pop-up. My brother liked toys so the girls thought it a great idea if I spent some of his money on a toy that he might approve of and that the whole family could enjoy. His snowmobile was given the name Duaniac by his friends cause he did NOT drive it like a maniac but was slow and careful!! When I opened the gift I just sat there and cried but they were happy tears and gives me another way to remember my special brother. Eleanor
Merry Christmas Eleanor - what is a pop-up?
Everyone has obviously been very, very good this year.
Pix, that is one gorgeous daylily. I would be so afraid I would kill it! I have seen storm jars, so I knew what they were, but that one is gorgeous.
I'm going to take some pics, so I'll post later.
Ah - it's a tent trailer! We had one for many years - then we got my mom and dad's old camper for the back of Our Old Truck . . . lol
Nice gifts all. No garden stuff for me. My wife and I only exchange one small gift since the kids are now the focus. I did get a gardening theme software package for them!
Nice!
For your kids? Did they fall go for it? (You know, when that strike-out feature was introduced, I couldn't imagine using it for anything.) xxx, Carrie
They looked at it and put it aside like all the other non-toys.
LOL!

Merry Christmas everyone! I only opened two presents yesterday. Saturday we're going to do the big opening at MIL's house.
I got a reference book on Cacti (Love it!) and a GorillaPod!!!! Woo Hoo!!! I really wanted one of those. For those of you who don't know what a GorillaPod is, it's a small, tripod for your camera that grips anything: http://www.joby.com/
I have one - they're great. Maybe yours can grip a cactus.
How big is it? I want one now. I got a regular tripod for my birthday and i haven't used it once. It's just too big and bulky for me. But that gorilla think looks like my kind of tripod. We'll regift the tripod to my daughter, who has used it.

There are different sizes. Goes by the weight / size of the camera. My camera is heavy-ish and I plant to get a dslr so I bought he bigger one.
Yes Deb.
I got presents from all the furballs (cats, dogs, rabbit, fish) and hubby. I suspect that hubby did the shopping. Got a couple of sets of PJs (someone had chewed a hole in my old one).
tetley - do you suspect hubby did that too?
Kassia, I'm tempted to ask you if the head light is for your car! But I'm sure it's for tending roses at night!
Oh, I forgot to mention - Santa will be coming in the Spring with my new Vermont garden cart!
Can it be used in MA??
No, actually I'm going to get a plot of land up there, and travel back and forth on the weekends. Wise guy!
Amethystsm, you are so funny! Maybe I should ask him............ LOL
Actually I built at work a few years ago - bigger than the large ones. They charge big bucks for those things! I have only used it a few times though - when mulching. It holds about four times what my wheelbarrow does and I put removable panels both in the front and back. Been thinking about using it in NYC as a rickshaw.
That's one way to stay in shape!
V, you can come up here and cart me around ;0) I'm actually planning on getting one of those in the spring. they are pricey, but I can't carry ANYTHING and I need some kind of cart. I want to get one big enough. I don't find a wheelbarrow all that useful...need something flat.
Pod also sounds great...just what I need. hmmm...b'day in the spring.
I got garden gifts. I mentioned a couple of gardening things to my son, but told him 'anything garden related'. so this is what I got from him and DDIL. haven't played yet but it sure looks like fun. We spent a lot of time debating which game to play on Christmas Day. DH and I got Trivial Pursuit Greatest Hits from our younger DGD, we bought each other Monopoly Mega Edition (the expanded one with more streets and skyscrapers), and I got Who, What, Where, which is the one we settled on. Everybody liked it. You get 3 cards, like Robin Hood, jousting, in a volcano, and have 4 minutes to draw it and then you pass it around and everybody writes down what their guesses are. Lots of fun...I would recommend for teenagers and up.
Jan, your lady is beautiful!!!!!!!! I can just imagine what she must look like up-close if the picture is not doing her justice!
Garden Monopoly looks like fun too! I do like the chest set but no gift envy...trying to be good for next year. Don't want Santa to think im ungrateful! LOL
