Just wanted to wish you all in beautiful, sunny and a little breezy this Christmas Eve, a very Merry Christmas and the best of the New Year.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Merry Christmas, weege, not a bad week all in all, huh? Do we know how many people would give almost anything to be in sunny SoCal?!
Count me in on that, Gypsy! It's about 18 degrees here in Iowa and with high winds it feels even colder.
Merry Christmas, you lucky ducks!
Looks like tomorrow might be just as nice as today was. Woo hoo, Xmas!
Keep that fire going Arlene.
Merry Christmas! Northern CA's not too bad right now either! A bit chilly at night, but it's been beautiful and sunny during the day
Yup, I even got out in the garden today for a few hours to finally tear up ole tomato and bean plants.
Have a wonderful holiday, everyone.
Merry Christmas! Loving this weather (except for the chilly nights). Wrap those plumies up, Weegy.
It was close to 80 here today...beautiful ! But I know it'll be cold again tonight.
I spent half the day trying to corrale a Mallard duck that somehow ended up in my yard. It was 9 kinds of fun trying to get him into the garage, keep the cats away from him, get him into the cat carrier and then drive over to the lagoon to set him free. They do NOT like being handled! LOL The cats still think he's out there...it's been 9 hours...HELLO !!!!
I was spared having to drive the freeways tonight...FOR ONCE. Tomorrow and the next day is another story...Camarillo, then Simi Valley...and BACK again.
Merry Christmas, Everyone !
Weege...remember...be dignified! LOL
Arlene....18 degrees is just.....well, it doesn't compute!
Good evening everyone,
Louise, thank you for the kind thoughts for Christmas. I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your whole family.
I just got back from my DD's house for a yummy Christmas Eve dinner, Italian style. We have to go back tomorrow morning to open our Christmas gifts, then my whole family comes to my house for Christmas dinner.
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.
donna
Hasn't this just been the more glorious Christmas Eve weather? I spent the day in the garden, planting bulbs and yanking weeds. Couldn't be a better gift. My poor family are all in that horrid midwest ice/snow mess. Ain't life grand in sunny CA?
Well, looks like we'll be having Christmas dinner inside instead of on the patio. The winds started pretty strong here at 6 A.M.
Mike, dignified, don't know what you're talking about! Did you say you're having duck for dinner!?!!?!?? Meow!
Kathleen, the winds seem to be going in a direction that my plumies won't be harmed. I watered them pretty good yesterday so they shouldn't get too dry.
Donna, good to hear from you.
Off to start breakfast for the brood! Then put dinner in the oven.
EVERYONE, ENJOY YOUR DAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOURS, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Bizarre winds here, as well.
Could be worse though, right? LOL
J.D., I don't know what it is about the way cats think, but we once had a cat go out the door only to find a very large King snake.....and he NEVER went out that door again without looking down and sideways in both directions first. Of course your cats think the duck is still there..lol...they'll probably still be looking for it a year from now.
Just taking a break from the kitchen - pies smell wonderful. I'm not up to speed, so dinner will be late -- again! lol
Lookee what I had waiting for me this morning. Plus, Harbor Freight finally had a greenhouse available and we got it - with two discounts! Thanks to Sherry's tip. Now if we can just stop 'discussing' where to put it. :-)
Oh, K, very cool indeed.....you'll fill it up fast. Then have to get it programmed into your psyche to open and close each morning and evening and don't leave the house for the day without remembering (been there). And they do let you use the discount coupon along with the sale, huh?
Which epi is that one? I'm assuming epi....
Merry Christmas! Everyone!
Windy alway on Dec. 25 every years!
The winds did subside this afternoon, we all here had a wonderful Xmas...too much food as usual and the desserts...yummmmmmmmmy!
Sherry, yes, we used the coupon in addition to the sale price. The epi is called Jovial - I got it at Epies by Pat.
....and a very Happy New Year to all of you!
Happy New Year 2008!
Well, I just got hire for driver tonight lawyers from 9pm to 1 am....
It will be freeze tonight 22* I stay warm in my van and wait for drunk lawyers come out.... lol...
Congrats Rusty! Drive safe and watch out for those partiers. This is not the best night to be on the road that's why we're staying home snuggled up safe and warm.
weegy, only once in my life did I enjoy a night out on New Year's Eve - at an Al Jarreau concert. Otherwise, I'd rather stay home safe and warm like you. Happy New Year, everyone! Good growing in 2008!
Yup, tucked in here safe and warm!
Boy, we lead exciting lives, don't we? Cup of tea and a good book, that's all I ask. HoHum.....
Yes, you should see how I cringed when I saw/heard the crowd in Times Square on the news. eeek! Glad they're having a good time, but I'm sure glad I'm not there.
LOL Sherry ! Me too...except for me it's coffee.
Kathleen...the natives here are getting restless.
Well, we're all obviously having a good time! lol
Are they partying around your area, J.D.? I'm just so thankful that our one neighbor with a barking dog has apparently decided to stay home also. They're good people and don't leave often, but the dog is a real barker. My real excitment comes tomorrow when I'll be sowing lots of seeds, then another cup of tea and finish the book...lol....
Well, we're just 'quiet, country folk', huh?
I'm also enjoying a nice quiet evening with the company of my dog and a nice glass of wine! He wasn't feeling well today so I didn't want to go out and leave him alone. And I probably won't even stay up until midnight, I get migraines if I don't get enough sleep and it's just not worth it! I'm sure someone will shoot off some fireworks right around midnight and wake me up though.
Happy New Year to all.
Hubby and I are old folks like the rest of you. We haven't been out on NY's eve in many moons. We always stay in and have an easy dinner and rent a movie. Tonight we had Sloppy Joes and watched Oceans's 13.
We also have a video game that we play against each other almost every night, it's called Tetris 2 on Nintendo. Tonight we had an end of the year playoff...first person to win 4 matches is the 2007 champ. I won the first 2 matches, DH won the next 2 matches, then I won another one....but he ended up winning the last 2. I had to conceed to him that he was the end of the year champ. lol
I am taking a break on here, then we will start watching all the hoopla on TV. I hope we can stay awake till midnight. lol
Mike, you party too hard, dude!!!! lol
Donna
Well, I'm almost making it to midnight but it's getting rough!
Donna did you win??!?!??!!?
Mike is probably partying it up somewhere!
I like Dublins idea, snuggle up with the dog and a glass of wine.
Ok. 15 minutes to go, I'll be up and listening for the gunshots ringing in the new year.
Well, Happy New Year to you all, see you next year!
Hey Weegy.....long time !
Happy new years ! May our new year be filled with lots of irises !
I didn't even try! Neighbors woke me with some pot-banging and a couple of firecrackers, but otherwise it was quiet. Now, I'm going to try to make some aebelskivers (apple-filled pancakes) for DH. He deserves something special after working so hard putting up my greenhouse!
Oh I love aebelskivers! I never have chance to make it... I have old aebelskiver skillet some where hide from me in my house! lol...
I saw beautiful firework last night while I sitting in my van to wait for lawyers come out!
Ha Ha...I have that aebelskiver pan also hiding somewhere. How many of us have all the pans and molds so we'll have them when we need them, then never use them? I cannot resist kitchen stuff...you'd think I cook or something......
Hey Sandy, good to hear from you. Yes, lots of iris blooms this year I hope.
Kathleen, those aebelskivers sound yummy. How do you make them?
Well, I did hear firecrackers and don't know if I heard guns, I can't tell the difference.
Well, may 2008 be the best for your plants and blooms and may 2008 bring the annihilation of all weeds!
Weegy - they are a little tricky. First you need the pan - it looks like an egg poacher. Mine is cast iron. You need to get the pan very hot. The batter is similar to what you use for waffles. Put a little in the cup with some chopped apple (or jam, etc.) and when it starts to set, you kind of push it so it rolls up and over, making a ball. Traditionally, a knitting needle is used. I had to experiment until I found something that would work for me. Worked OK once I got the hang of it. They were good!
Sherry, I don't cook much anymore, either. But I LOVE pancakes! Mostly I make healthy ones with whole grains, etc., but once in a while I like something special like a Dutch baby (what an awful name). DH loves anything with apples in it!
Sounds too complicated for this brain! I'll just have to invite myself over for breakfast!
Waffles are my favorite. Just syrup and butter...none of that fancy House of Pancakes stuff.
