i think i'm going to lose my brugs! what am i doing wrong? 3

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

I think you should enjoy every minute of it!!! Why is it we can't see the forest for the trees? Nike has my favorite saying.."JUST DO IT!!!!" Hold your nose and take the medicine!!! You will be glad you did when you get out and head off to college!!! With your knowledge and love of plants I know the world is gonna be better because of the mark you leave behind you!!!

Hang in there!!!

its just the people there... they (most of them) are ignorant and oblivious to everything but their own desires, and dont give a ripp about anything a long as they get it..... and almost all are multimillionares!this is my first and last year.... great school and tecahers and curriculum, but crappy student body... my rant for today

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Where are you gonna go next year? I bet there are gonna be some you miss after you change schools. My daughter Joann and a girl named Angel fought their entire 8th grade and I mean fought, pulling hair, cat fight. Then their 9th grade year they became best friends until Joann died at 27. You know Angel still comes by to see me and it's been 11 years. BFF!!!

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

i'll go back to public school, Bluffton High school. we don't have a whole quarter left, and i'm just now beginning to be acknowledged as another being. i haven't really made any friend there that i won't ever see again. my mom teaches there, so i'll still be around

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

What are you having trouble with? Mine was science!!! HATED IT!!!! It just didn't make sense to me no matter how hard I tried. Grew up and fell deeply in love with Botany!!! LOL!!! I wish I had absorbed some of that stuff that didn't make sense!!!!

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

the people... they pretend to be chritian, the get arrested for DUI, and then that puts us christians in a stereotype, and gives us a bad name, and turns people off, hindering us from doing the geat commission. i mean it realy makes me sad... i usually dont get really sad about anyone's problems but mine, but i am. they act no better than the potheads at Bluffton. i mean, we are paying more than $20,000 a year for tuition and a good envrnmt, but if there is no difference, why spend money to go to school with millionares when there are potheads tthat are more mature than them? they guys there act like 4th graders and .... ugh... i gotta stop complaining

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Because regardless what the other students are doing they aren't bringing hand guns to school and you're receiving a foundation in the Lord that definately won't be in the public school!!!

That's why ones walk with the Lord is private!!! He knows what kids are doing what and he knows who isn't!!!! The Bible says if 2 or more people are gathered in his name he will be present.

It's no fun preaching to the choir!!! They are already saved!!! It's your walk among non-christians that show them a better way!!!

Was there anything in particular that you wanted off the tropical coop?

Hang in there TL!!! I totally understand a lot of your views. I had thought - never assume, lol! - that you were older and further along in school as you have always displayed a lot of maturity and intelligence in your postings. Again, hang in there...it's not that much longer til summer break!!!!!!

Jan...better to be optimistic than pessimistic :)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Part of being a good Christian is not to judge others. We're all sinners. But your happiness IS your responsibility, TL. I don't think the potheads and millionaires would disappear if everyone were a Christian. Maybe part of the commission is to prevail even with the hinderances... you can't save everyone, TL. You are a smart mature young man and you may have touched someone in some way or made someone think about their own Christianity, and you don't even know you reached them.. The Lord does work in mysterious ways (trust that)... The feelings you're having may be because there is a devine purpose for you to go to Bluffton - (save a pothead?).. All I know is, the world and the people in it (even Christians) are not perfect - not all Christians behave in a Christian way. That concludes the Thursday afternoon sermon. lol Sorry, I just don't want you to be sad or troubled. I'm sorry, TL, but you gave me a little chuckle... your parents really know how to bring a message home, huh? "can't do buying or trading plants and seeds". Poor TL, they really knew how to get your attention. Jan, he got me on the Black Cotton Banana, too! lol But I am going to search for a pic of Black Cotton... never heard of it. (can't seem to get this post finished, phone keeps ringing, and I have to anwer it) Hang in there, TL, one thing for sure, things will change. (and it's okay to whine, we don't care) ((((((TL)))))))))

Hey AuntB!!! Didja see my posting on the other forum re: my brug seeds are starting to germinate---WHOOO HOOO!!! The snow is continuing to melt away and I have brug baby seedlings! How's everything with you?

Take care all my gardening friends and brug addicts!

we should probably move this to d-mailing understand, its just diffcult to have to see how only like 6 people out of my whole grade really desire a relationship with God. i mean, its gotten to the point wher one of my classmates has tried to commit suicide because they are just so cruel. this year 30 people are leaving, and most because of the other students.there are probably 120 people in my grade and more than thirty are feeling that they need to leave. i shouldn't have even come here anyway because , becasue i din't ask God if ti was what he wanted.... i'll stop... if you want to contingue this emo conversation, d-mail me

TL:

I feel your "hurting" and sadness and it makes me quite concerned...PLEASE, don't abandon us now. We'll keep this topic as it should be-our BRUG ADDICTIONS and the HAPPINESS this brings to each of our lives! Even tho there was a song that 'kinda' drove me bonkers years ago it also is 'uplifting' in it's own way: "Don't Worry, Be Happy"!!!

You've made some wonderful contributions to the Brug Forum and you'd be terribly missed if you stop posting. No more "OT", OKAY?!?! EVERYONE AGREE????

I feel responsible for creating this fiasco by asking about school and I'm very, VERY, regretful as I hadn't realized how emotionally depressing this subject is for you TL. So, as I said above, no more discussion pertaining to school, religion, etc.---PLEASE?!

Hear Hear to Jan, I have been silently reading the postings. My heart goes out to you TL and anyone who hurts in whatever way. Gardening is a sure cure for many things.
Don't Worry, Be Happy.

I am so happy, I could scream (a joyful shout). My plants are doing fantastic. TL, how are yours?

This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago. Growing like mad. Just ready to put my makeshift greenhouse up and put them outside next week, and have many more to pot up into gallon pots.

Happy day all. Marie

i need to get around to planting. but the two that i had from last year are already coming up from the ground

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Marie, those are tremendous! BRUG seedlings!!! Congrats Jan, I'm waiting, I have some cute other seedlings going (peppers, vines, impatients)... you STILL have snow?? You poor girl! I played outside today. (now I'm a couch potato) The brug I left in the ground (cut at ground level) looks good, it wasn't mush... I'm hopeful for new growth.. I HOPE we get some warm days, the crocus and daffodils are blooming and Maya brug has 16 blooms in the basement.. I would like to apologize for getting off topic. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

AuntB - see my new post in "The Chief" ... I'm so sorry!!

(Jan) So Milw, WI(Zone 5b)

Hey AuntB...nothing to apoligize about!!! I just didn't want to 'lose' TL on the forum. Thanks TL for understanding!!! Hmmmm---I'm a "goober"---I like it, hee! hee! I transplanted my 6 baby brug seedlings this past weekend---4 are going strong, 2 are iffy. Our snow is FINALLY melting away---YEAH!!! Still some stubborn patches of snow out there tho. My Bleeding Heart Bush is breaking ground and the Rhubarb is also making an appearance. This past weekend was absolutely, positively fantabulous---I (accidentally) got sunburned Saturday when I was re-potting seedlings/plants outside - the temp went up to 67!!! Had the heat off and the deck doors open, UMMMMM!!!

Hi MyRee, kimarj, jeri11, Amanda & anyone else I inadvertantly missed!!!

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi Jan! I'm still planning on trying to send you some cuttings at least of my Wonga Vine ... and I have some cuttings to send to AuntB of hibs and my orange brugs! I've gotten so behind and the theft didn't help. But at least that's over with now and things are returning back to normal. So how is everyone? And any more pics yet?

Brigham City, UT(Zone 5b)

I plan on potting my cuttings up on Saturday and Monday when the temps are spring time temps instead of winter (in the low 40's today and rain and snow).
I will put my makeshift greenhouse up Friday and have it ready for some plants by Saturday. I am really excited and my sweetheart is more excited to get the forest out of the house. hehe

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I'll have to say I'm with your sweetie, Marie... The forrest needs to go outside (about 3 more weeks for me). Here's Maya's bold attempt to tell me she wants to play outside.. Amanda, I haven't gotten your "theif relief package" together, yet, but I WILL. -B

Does anyone know what Maya is a sport of ?

Kansasville, WI(Zone 5a)

All I found was: France x candida.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I'm not sure, I know she's a real good sport. (sorry, pun intended:) Always wanting to bloom and very forgiving. She's the aphid battle ground this winter, and still produces such excitement for me .. .(it's been a long, hard winter)

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

AuntB - you are too kind!! I did purchase Liz's Jacayna x The Chief seedling, so hopefully I'll get something really ncie from it, too! Slowly, I'll build my collection up again!

(Jan) So Milw, WI(Zone 5b)

{{{Amanda}}}

I just read about the thievery from your yard!!! How AWFUL! I would be so afraid to have anything outside and then, not knowing who preyed on you, mistrusting people. We have a fenced-in yard (with two locked gates) so that "the girls" (our two beagles) can go outside whenever and it makes me feel 'safer' knowing that someone would have to make an effort to get into our yard and/or house. I've heard other people talking about having plants in planters stolen from their porches/yard...I feel really horrible for you :(

Hugs, again, to my gardening friend!
Jan

Thanks, Jan!!

BTW everyone, remember those little guys that I thought wouldn't make it? Well ... it looks like they made it!

Unfortunately, I don't think I can call this an addiction. It's far worse than that.

I know I've been scarce these last few months dealing with school and work full-time. But I'm still in love with my plants!! And these Brugs are the best thing I've ever found! I love 'em and can't get enough!

And yes AuntB - I still haven't gotten my DH to move the Philodendron ... :(

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Amanda)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I've missed you, We've missed you! I think the philo appreciates the shade the brug provides! DH can keep an eye on that cute little weed puller and bring you tea while you chat on DG, no need to move it now, it really looks good there, how accomodating is that relationship? Cool. ;) The brug is gorgeous! Look at the blooms! How lovely! Your an old pro now, young lady! We've been chatting with newbies over on another fun, learning, heartwarming thread, please come over and say hi! It's the "she's about to #4" (might be#5, by now), it reminds me of your thread, so exciting and educational..good stuff... we're a fun group of newbies and not so newbies, all fun ladies (you gent's are welcome, too). I still have "enough" plants to help you replenish or just to get a fix.. I mean, satisfy your tropical plant wants...er...neeeeeds.. The Amanda's Pink Tree Brug is a baby again for me this spring, I "retired" the original but it helped me learn a way I CAN'T winter them over in the ground here, (at least in THAT spot).. So good to hear from you! I hope you can visit more. -Bonnie

(Jan) So Milw, WI(Zone 5b)

I had a plant thievery over this past weekend---I had a hanging planter with my Prickly Pear Cacti which was growing very well and someone "took" it :( That was the only stolen item but it still really makes me angry!! What's with people these days?!

Jan

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Jan I am soo sorry this happened to you and angry with these bums!!

Hello Amanda!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Jan! No! I'm so sorry. Guess they don't like brugs... that's weird they just took one plant. Hope they get a sticker in their "bum". I don't have prickly pear or I'd send you some.
