Beautiful pic depsi!

I'd agree w/ Sharp-shinned.

Thanks Resin and pelletory. The feeder is about 13"X13". I forgot to add that about 5 minutes after the hawk left the feeders were back. Also within the last half hour we've had a number of western bluebirds looking at the bird house. Saw them last year when snow was on the ground too, but were told they weren't supposed to be hear in the winter. We've learned the bird house we currently have up is not adaquate for nesting due to size and design. Should we just take it down or plug hole and leave it? We've purchased a blue bird house and I intend to pattern a couple more like it to be placed further away from the feeding area when the weather gets better, any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Picture is kind of dark, the blue was a lot brighter and the brick red chest really stood out, hope to get better picture in the future.

I have had several of the White Throated Sparrows lately! At first I thought they were Immature White Crowned Sparrows then I noticed the white at the throat! I hope my ID is correct!

OH, I really enjoyed all the birdie pictures. I want a new camera.. wahhhh. This wren nested on our front porch last year and he just came back a few nights ago (or maybe I just noticed him because of Christmas lights). Doesn't seem to mind all the flashing Christmas lights.. sleeps right on

Elaine, we almost never see wrens although they are around in the summer, and certainly never at this time of year.
Burn, you really captured that little guy's expression.
We had rainy, foggy, nasty weather today, not good for taking pictures, but I got these grosbeaks from inside the house. The quality is poor but I love the way they were carrying on.

It always amazes me how the birds can land on a mesquite bush without getting stuck by the thorns. Here's a Mourning Dove coming in for a landing.

I never saw a black-throated sparrow until last week; but this one is becoming one of my regular dinner guests.

I guess it might help if I included the picture, huh? LOL

The highlight of my day was seeing these 3 cactus wrens on my suet feeder at the same time. They are very territorial; so this was a bit out of character for them.

Love everyone's pictures and wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
