This is the continuation from thread #42 - http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/798201
We watch from a distance here - camera doesn't zoom far enough - but a couple of years ago we had this little group. The pic is not in sync with the beautiful snow photos in abundance here, but it's sweet and one of my favorites.

Kaperc, just a beautiful photo!
Thanks, everyone. I told Pelle, it's my last photo. :-(
They are house finches, and they all fledged. We had nests in two hanging plants every year at our old house. This one was right outside the front door and every time we walked out, mom finch would take off, of course. The other was outside the windows in the back, so we had a perfect view of the fledging. I'd clean the nests out afterward, and they'd be back the following year.
Bump :-)
beautiful pics of the wee chicks , followed threads back away, wonderful too see birds i have only read about.
Does anyone here have a Olympus E510? Magnes is getting a new cam for me... It is just one he is considering... Any input?
Don't know that one. I just got The Fuji S8000 and I really like it for a point & shoot. The other one I would like to have is the Sony DSC H7. It has 15x optical zoom.
Hi debnes, Heres a page that if you scroll down has reviews from alot of different sites
You'll have to click on each one to see the full review from each one.

Nice pics debnes & nanny!
Fantastic pics everyone! That first pic is adorable!
Thanks pelle!:-)
Nice to see the sunshine, even if it is on snow! Snow can make it difficult for birds to find food if they are ground feeders, these are lucky birds!
It was hanging around 32F today, so very dull too, a few wood pigeons were sitting high in the trees all puffed up. This is how dull it was at 11.40, I even lightened the pic a little!
I started throwing hard cat food on the ground, for the starling. I'm trying to divert them from the suet. They are scaring my WP. I don't see the other birds, that use to come either .(Blue Jays, Junco, Sisken, lesser GF.) I'm hoping they will be back soon.
We ordered last night the Fuji Finepix S8000fd! ;-)

Love the Pine Grosbeak and all of the Redpolls!
Love the Cardinal, the Blue Jays, RBW and the Mockingbird!
Wallaby, is your type of Pigeon (wood) a different type that we have in the U.S. ?
All nice pics everyone! ;-)
Marilyn
Adel,
Love your comments and pics! Fox Sparrow are beautiful and sweet birds!
Nice pics!
Marilyn
Marilyn, we ordered ours this morning. It's your fault! Do you know about the $50 rebate?
Sorry for the OT message, everyone. I want to take pictures, too!
Kaperc,
LOL! Looks like everyone is getting one now! Nanny said in one of the other threads that she got one too!
No, I didn't know about the $50 rebate. We kept looking online last night for the cheapest price for the camera and the memory card, We had to get them at separate companies because of the price.
Marilyn
Marilyn, it looks like the Wood Pigeon is in Europe, down to Africa, and to the Gulf. This site claims to cover America as well. Maybe you have a different species similar to it, Resin will tell us!

That is some camera you guys are getting. Love the 18X zoom. My current one only has 10X. I can't wait to see your pics.
Sorry, more OT.
Beclu,
The camera I've been using is a Fuji Finepix S5200 with a zoom of 10, but I wanted a camera with a higher zoom to take more of a closeup of birds. ;-)
Marilyn
Yep, Wood Pigeon just in Europe, western Asia and northwest Africa.
Nearest equivalent in the US is Band-tailed Pigeon in the southwest and west coast, fairly similar in size (just slightly smaller).
