I've done some stupid stuff, but

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Never would I have thought that I took a garment to be cleaned and obviously forgot about it for 4 years!
I was looking for this outfit to take to VEgas, I believe I wore it for Christmas in 2003 and it is no where to be found. I adored this lacy one too - but must be gone to the cleaners never to be worn again!
Dumb, dumb, dumb!

I am begining to wonder about you being full blooded elf.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I wonder too.
So what have you lost and not discovered for 4 years that it was even missing?

(Zone 7a)

I have a good pal I work with that is not very tall. She calls herself a carny.

I lost photos of my daughter. Didn't even know they were missing until I went to look. I think it was about two years though.

This happens to me all the time. Yesterday, it was the silver polish.
I am having lots of company for dinner tomarrow and thought I would get out the good silver. Ha, little tarnished after not using for...a while. I looked an hour for the silver polish before heading to the store. Six bucks and an hour later, I have nice clean utensils for the company.
Where does this stuff dissapear to? I always know I am in trouble, when I haven't seen something sence we moved 6 years ago.

Or how about that "I saw it someplace, mmm, I know it was in a stupid spot"
Or, finding something in a stupid spot and moving it to a more findable spot, then only remembering the stupid spot, and still not finding it.

DH is the same way, so we are really a pair! (he has been looking for that big bottle of black powder for his muzzle loader for weeks)
It is funny, because we are pretty organized otherwise. It is just those once every 4 year things that we have trouble with.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

We do that as well, lol I got some money out of the bank for our trip and wanted to hide it at home and had to have Steve watch me as I found a spot then I actually wrote it down and hid the note and this was just gonna be in hiding for 2 days, but I just don't trust myself anymore. I always know where the stuff is that I don't need at the moment, but the rest well nuf said!

Tell him to stop looking for the black powder muzzleloader season is over till next year!!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Not till Sunday night.
He uses pellets in his gun anyway, it is just the hawkins he needs the black powder for. Sometimes I will go out and use that gun.

I found $45.00 on my desk a couple weeks ago,in the piles and piles of stuff I "think" I need to keep. I don't know how long it had been in that pile of stuff....probably since summer.

I never find what I know I have but just can't find it....until I buy the replacement then I find it and 2-3 duplicates.

This morning I lost my keys in a crowded Walgreens drugstore. I checked my pockets several times. I thought I might have dropped them in the parking lot or maybe laid them down on a shelf. I looked for about half an hour, then called my husband. He came down and let me in my car. Then I decided to check my pockets again. I was wearing a big, heavy, down jacket with umpty million pockets, mainly to avoid carrying a purse. O.K. So, I started emptying each pocket, one by one, on to his lap. Lo and Behold the key ring appeared from an outer un-zippered pocket that I swear I must have checked before, at least 10 times! Well, it was better to be an idiot than to have really lost the keys.

Boy, I can relate to that!
This year we had quite a crowd for Christmas dinner. I set up a buffet and put placecards for the different items, stating what each bowl contained. I put these cards down by the bowl that I was going to put the items in.
We were all ready to eat and I noticed one card and an empty spot.
I quickly retrieved the sweet tater casarole from the oven. Saved me from forgeting.

That's a good one. Hope your dinner was delicious!

It was the best that I have ever done. That maybe was a big mistake. They will now come to my house every year, instead of rotating. LOL

l.o.l. That's the chance you take.

The stupidest thing I ever "forgot" was the time I went to a gathering and thought I forgot my sunglasses. I was thinking the whole time during the outdoor very sunny affair that I wish I had them. I even said to my friend I wish I had my sunglasses today and she said yep it sure is sunny today..........

Well I was gone all day and then when I finally got home I checked my E-Mail. There was a picture of me someone had taken at the event and there were my Sunglasses on top of my head. I said oh there they are! I reached up and yep there they were! Now that's bad enough, but my friend couldn't find them either and she was looking straight at me....lol!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Too funny. Good thing they invented digital cameras, could have been weeks before you found them!

LOL! Yep!

There are few things in our house we always seem to play hide-n-seek with. DH's tape measure is one of them. I've come to the point where I say the most common asked question in our house is, "Have you seen the tape measure?"

Another bad, bad one for me is our birth certificates. We haven't traveled since the need for a passport, so we always used to take our birth certs and driver's license with us. We used to travel every spring, and every spring I would end up turning the house upside down looking for the "safe place" that I put the birth certs. One time I was certain I had put them in my hope chest....so the unpacking of it ensued. It's filled with memories and mementos from our wedding and other important occasions. I ended up looking through nearly every card I had ever saved in our 12 years (at that time) of marriage. I did find a $100 bill, but no birth certs! The money had been left in a card from a wedding gift. Fer goodness sakes! I felt like I should send the gifter another thank you card!

I think I eventually found the certs in our roll top desk. You know, we are planning on traveling in winter 2008, maybe I should start searching now....maybe I'll find some more money!

Santa Fe, NM

Yeah, we also have "lost" our birth certificates on more than one occasion. That's always a scramble. We keep meaning to put them in our safe deposit box. I wonder if we ever did? It must be New Years or Tax Time, when we start thinking about all these documents. Yick. Oh. Today I lost my pencil sharpener. Maybe 2008 will be a good year for finding things!

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

I'll agree with that roybird, 2008 will be a good year for finding GOOD things! Happy New Year everyone!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Happy hunting, never lost the birth certificate, but sometimes I spend an inordinate amount of time sitting trying to figure where all those papers are and just what is in the lockbox!

Santa Fe, NM

Hey, guess what! 2008 is a good year for finding things. The pencil sharpener turned up on the edge of my desk this morning. Guess it just went on walkabout.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

LOL, I hate it when things come back and then rub my nose in it LOL!
