Visions of Spring '08!

Patti, what is a "Victor List"?

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Go Patti! You're an inspiration.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

PrimroseSue, Victorgardener started this thread and I figure that it was his inspiration that encouraged me to make a list of all that I planned on doing to make the 08 garden what it could be with a little effort and thought. Thus, I now tell my DH when I am insisting on pruning half of the Island and moving trees and planting more shrubs that it is Victor's fault because all these tasks are on the Victor list, thus they must be done. Patti

Good thinking Patti! Blame it on Victor! ;-) Pat

Not too comfortable with that level of responsibility!! I aspire to the least common denominator. Keep expectations low - that's my approach. Then you can only impress.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Dear Victor, I never said anything that I do is guaranteed to be anything but done. And, it all could be done, but just badly! I do badly well at times. Mulligans galore in my garden, but I gave up golf years ago.

I haven't showed DH the complete Victor List, yet. I am no fool. But, not to worry, DH has only heard that we are delivering at some point one of his pride and joys to some guy named Victor. So he will be well behaved in fear that you might take offence and kill off the gift of his precious Jade tree like you did to yours. I know it was an accident. Patti

I'll be sure to guard this one with my life!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Patti, kudos to you for guaranteeing that it is done. I make lists in the head and am really very happy when it gets a 75% completion rate. When I make the Victor lists I sometimes forget that I still have to work to make the $$ to buy the plants. oh, and pay the mortgage lol

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Venu209, fortunately most of the Victor List is just grunt work and a few shrubs this year. But of course I have the other plant list from the plantaholic in me which is way too long already. Don't tell Victor that there is another list. My dear mom gave me some birthday scratch which will pay for some of my excesses. It is so good to have a birthday which is in the same week that most of the plant catalogs arrive. She says the same thing every year when I tell her I am buying plants, "Oh, but you have so many, already" Too funny and ridiculous. Patti

Good one Patti! Similar story. My mom got me a gift certificate to Fairweather for my birthday. Also, she always plays the number for my birthday - '101', both straight and combo, for a few days. This year it hit and I won $160. You know that's going toward my FW order as well!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I still have not gotten my FW cat. Hmmmmmm...Moms are great though. My Mom said something to me the other day that floored me. She grew up during the depression and does not advocate spending any luxurious dollars. A few of months ago I decided i needed to get back to my "fighting weight" and hired a personal trainer. I told her and she kind of freaked at the cost. Last week she said "I don't care what it costs, keep going to that trainer. You look so alive" Thank you Mom. Aren't they great?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes they are and congrats on the training! I love working out. I think FW sends out the catalogs early to those with gift certificates.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Tae Bo is gonna kill me and it's free..is the personal trainer any easier than Tae Bo??

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

I think I should make a "Victor List" this year. My trend is usually this - I walk out the door and say, "What do I feel like doing today?". If I made a list and stuck to it I could call it my "Victory List"!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Me, too!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Me three!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

My "Victor List " is getting shorter. I just came in from my garden workout of 5 hours of whacking and pruning. DH came out to help which surprised me as I thought I had used up his volunteering time for the month yesterday. But he loved the idea of freeing up some old native beach plums and a big high bush blueberry so he got right into it. If we don't get rain tomorrow we will have another burn pile. DH somehow managed getting his eyebrows singed yesterday and DS who was minding the fire while we dragged the brush to the fire pile inadvertently put a pitch fork into his foot and drew blood. But nothing happened to me except needing to retire early to my bed which I am doing today too. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds like a full day of work!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Pixie, I was a Tae Bo addict for a couple of years. The trainer is much, much harder. Plus Billy can't see you when you're sneaking a rest. The trainer knows when I'm cheating and I hear "get your booty on the track, 2 laps running" I can't type what I say to him without breaking the AU Policy ;~)
My Victor-y list is getting longer!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I try not to cheat...20 minutes the first time at it, then increase by 5 minutes every few days.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

By spring it will be 6 hours!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

No, just until I reach the end of the tape, thank you!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

There is an aerobic knitting dvd out. It's called Tie Knots.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'll look right into that....not.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Knot.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

very good....im too slow for you!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No you're knot!
