Thanks Lefty, I missed that, sorry to bother you.
thanks once again lefty--i think i will try the direct sow method --it was good to read the different methods of planting the seeds
Second wave of seeds went in the mail today.
I've been reading Eugene Fox's book, Martagon Lilies. For those of you that are receiving seed from Claude Shride, it seems this particular cultivar is quite dominant. In other words, in its progeny there most likely won't be much variation from Claude Shride characteristics, no matter who the pollen parent is. However, even though your future seedlings may look just like Claude Shride, they are not exact copies, and CANNOT be called Claude Shride. They are, and must be labeled as, seedlings of Claude Shride.
Whether this dominance is also carried through the pollen is not specifically stated in the book. I have no gut instinct either way on this dilemma.
Lefty, very interesting info on the 'Claude Shride" seeds. That must be some pretty hefty genetics there, to come through always as the dominant.

Lefty..........If you still have any seeds to give away, I wouldn't mind a few. I'm not picky. I'm a bit late to this thread, but just thought that I'd ask. I'm in the address exchange.
Hiya, just a friendly reminder to drop a little feedback for Left. Can't wait to get STARTED!!
Just got my seeds-THANK YOU!!! I can't wait to see the results!! Will they bloom the 1st year or deos it take a couple??
I got mine last night. So cool, thanks again Lefty.
marie_, I do still have seed, but I am not in the address exchange, so you will have to dmail me your address. Be sure to put in any preferences, I still have most types.
Fairy1004, in our northern climes, even the fastest growing seed, formosanum won't bloom the same year. (On the other hand, there is probably someone out there that can prove me wrong - Andrew?) Depending on how you pamper your lilies, L. formosanum can bloom the second season, but will certainly produce flowers the third year. Other immediate epigeal germinating lilies should bloom in their third or fourth year for most people.
I got my seeds from Leftwood today. Thank you for your kind generosity. I appreciate it.

Have you any seeds left to pass on ???
if so I will send a bubble envy with postage if you tell me where :) .
ty susie /deejay9
so what do you all mean by leaving feedback?
It's a rating system, sort of like ebay has. You can check someone's feedback before deciding to do a trade. If there is poor feedback you might choose to pass on that trade.
If you want to check or leave feedback for someone just click on their name to view your options. Click on your own name to see yours. :)
It is really a great idea, unfortunately not used often enough. I know I wished to have read some feedback before making trades with some. As a newbie, I ended up with 100's of one seed for 10 different seed from me and found out later it had happened to others. This was the ONLY time I had this happen, but it helps to know. Just my 2 cents.
Was that here on DG?
Hi Rick,
Thank you oh so much for your seeds. Person who collected my mail while I was away has finally returned so now I can read all my Christmas mail.

I would love some seeds if you have any or please put me on the list for next year. I also have a question my granddaughter recieved a tiger lilly bulb as a suprise gift and I don't really know how or where to plant it. We have it in a pot in the house right now. She is 8 and has to garden at my house because of little brothers. Thank You for your help.Susan
I can send you some Lilium formosanum seeds if you dmail me your address.
The best place for the tiger lily bulb is outside in the garden, even if it freezes outside. Does it? Of course it will take a lot longer to sprout than inside the house. Plant it so the top of the bulb(the end with points) is below the soil line two to three times the height of the bulb. They like rich, well draining soil.
On the other hand, she is only 8 years old. Can she wait until spring for it to come up? (I don't know when your spring is.) Maybe some of our Texan Lily contingency will join the conversation. You could grow it in a 10 inch pot, or a 8-10 by 10 inch deep nursery pot, and transplant it into the garden later, but flowers won't be as nice, and you won't have as big of a plant next year that you would have otherwise.
Don't forget the dmail,
Rick
Thanks for the info we will move it out into a her bed this weekend. Our spring is usually the last of March or middle of April depends on what our weather decides. We have been having 70 degree weather for three days now but its suppose to turn off cold and snow tonight. I'll dmail you. Jennifer will be excited about more bulbs, she likes anything with bulbs or rhyzomes. Thanks again. Susan
