More "Attention" for DG!

Lexington, VA(Zone 6a)

Seems like I'm finding more and more references to DG in the variety of magazines I read. The Jan/Feb 2008 issue of the AARP Bulletin has a Gardening article with "A Catalog Sampler" and refers readers to the Garden Watchdog:

"The Customers Always Write"

"Mail-order nurseries can disappoint. Visit the Garden Watchdog page at Dave's Garden (www.davesgarden.com), an open forum, to get customer comments on dozens of nurseries, and ratings on a 100-point scale".

The very next day I was reading the most recent copy of GCP&S (Garden Center Products & Supplies). The editor, Yale Youngblood, always entertains me with his humourous take on things. Although not specifically "Daves Garden", its sister site is mentioned. Here's an excerpt from one of his latest columns, "Site and sound thinking":

"So, you've made a list and checked it twice, and you're wondering how in the world did Uncle Fred's name get left off the "naughty" side? While you figure that one out, consider these two nuggets, which should help you make "nice" with your customers...

Lovely site...NameMedia has launched Gardens.com (http://gardens.com), a new Web site giving gardeners a chance to share experiences and expertise with an online community enabled by innovative technology and localized gardening content.
Combined mapping technology, customer reviews, and a library of original content, Gardens.com lets gardeners find (and critique) gardening-related businesses and services anywhere in the world, in addition to providing a forum to ask and answer questions on everything from identifying a plant to overcoming a gardening problem. Gardens.com provides listings for florists, garden centers and landscape services, as well as public gardens, parks and arboreta. Seasonal destinations, such as farmers markets and produce stands, corn mazes, pumpkin patches and Christmas tree farms are also included.
So, how does this affect you? Well, it certainly wouldn't hurt if your customers give you good reviews. It also would be in your interest to read what your customers are talking about. Finally, just knowing there's a site just for gardeners - and then sharing it with your customers - will help establish you as an authority in your neighborhood."

Let's hope more garden centers "share this site" with their customers!

Very nice!
