Last night I needed to make a quick run into town so I jumped into the van and headed out. We live in the country so there are no street lights to guide the way and all is quite dark with only the glow of the dash lights to see by. I had been driving for a few minutes when I suddenly felt a presence near me when out of the corner of my eye I caught sight of a head silently and slowly moving up beside me from behind. Instantly I began a reaction that nearly made me lose control of the van as I was preparing to do battle with this intruder in my vehicle, being of the some what aggressive nature I was not about to be taken without a fight. Regaining control of the van with one hand I lashed out with the other using considerable force expecting resistance from the person about to receive the blow. Much to my surprise there was no resistance at all nearly causing me to throw myself out of the drivers seat and yet again nearly losing control of the van and veering off to the right this time towards a ditch. Regaining control before it was to late once again I am in control of the van and desperately trying to find where it is the intruder had gone to.
Flipping on the interior lights I quickly scanned the vehicle for the location of this evil person in the rear view mirror and spotted him in the rear seats leering at me confident in his ability to control me as the fool I was. With a dropped jaw I stared into the cold empty starring eyes and a grin that could only be wiped from his laughing cynical face with a vengeance born from anger and fear that comes only from being taken by surprise.
I pulled the van over to the side of the road as quickly as I could and racing into the back I attacked him with a fury for having scared me the way he had, sticking my finger deep into his eye his head popped with a bang bring an end to my granddaughters balloon of evil.
Moral of the story is check the vehicle BEFORE you get in! :)
Barney where are you when I need you most!
Evil Has Many Faces!
OMG! Thank goodness you are safe! :)
Oh my, that would have scared the wits out of me. I was reading so fast hoping for a happy ending.
It did have a happy ending. Scared the crap out of you, I'm sure!
I woke one night to a face leaning over my bed. I jumped up and started swinging away with my fists. Only to discover that it was my oval shaped mirror that was on my dresser.
Glad you killed the killer, snipe!

Sorry but one of the young ladies that is a friend of the family dropped her 3 month off for a while and I had to tend to her and my granddaughter who thinks the baby is the neatest thing on earth.
When I got home and told Robin about the balloon (that I by the way got for Larina) laughed for quite awhile. Another sure sign of old age when you forget what you had bought just a few hours before. :)
Well baby duty calls. I'll check in later. Have a great day and stay warm!
LOL!
Sorry, really had to laugh..no laughing matter though, you certainly could have injured yourself...
I keep coming back to this thread I have laughed all daqy in regards to this one!! I am glad you did not hurt yourself though.
The real hurt was how stupid I felt after I realized what I had been fighting with, kinda let the air out of my ego sort of . :)
Rambo would certainly have been disappointed.
oh, haha, my gosh what an incredibly frightfully funny story to tell!
Thank goodness you were able to control the vehicle with all that hot air breathing down your back!!
still giggling here.
whenever i go to my grandparent's hose, they have a mirror behind one of the guest bathroom doors. whenever i go in there at night ot close the door, i nearly crap myself for being so scared
snipe,
I LOVE your story !! I can really picture this happening to me too!!
Oh that's a good one Snipe! Balloons will learn not to scare you! LOL
I had something similar happen.... I was out walking one day & thought I heard a bear making huffing noises! It almost sounded like it ws romping. Well I had my camera and tried to " sneak up " to get a pic... LOL When I got close to the sound, heart razing and adrenaline going, I realized it was not a bear..... just the gas going through a gas well line! LOL
Oh my gosh, I'll bet your heart was just flip-flopping!
Whew. I had to take a deep breath just reading that one!
Glad it was just a balloon.
:-) KM
My bear story, I was walking to my hunting blind early one morning. I had heard many animals scampering away from me in the dark that morning.
In the swamp, I kept heard noises behind me, but I kept going. (all I carry is a little tiny pin light as not to spook the animals)
I get almost to my blind and I hear heavy huffing about eye level.
I stop and shine the flashlight all around and cannot see anything. Then to my left, right by my head, I find a raccoon up the tree. He was huffing scared out of his little wits. Poor thing. I went to my blind and sat before realizing he could have jumped on my head in terror.
Silly me. I feel safe with that mm of tent fabric between me and the wild. LOL
First off I apparently used an inappropriate word sorry about that.
"Sniff, sniff" rubbing finger under nose whilst the other hand is hanging a finger in a belt loop, slight swagger while writing on the keyboard.
That pilgrim will think twice before trying that again! :)
Fact is I really felt pretty foolish after realizing who my intruder was.
I didn't notice an "inappropriate word".
Long day here at work, thought I'd come back to this thread ... did get the laugh I was looking for...
