Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Any plowing in your immediate future, Al?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Better stop soon to avoid that.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

LOOK FOR 6 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW TODAY. THE SNOW WILL TAPER OFF DURING
THE MID TO LATE MORNING HOURS.

So how is everyone else doing?? This is just last night and today's forecast. Tomorrow night we will repeat this lovely weather trend.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Lots of snow!! It is supposed to stop this morning and then tomorrow morning we do it all over again!! Eleanor

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Pixie - are you at the point of hating to see anything white yet?

We had hail at 4 AM, which sounded like someone throwing stones at the window and it woke me up, but now it's just dreary rain. Later this week I saw one predicted high of 26 so winter is settling in.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes Pirl, unless it's a white flower.....I don't care to see anything white.
I was just thinking how ironic life can be sometimes...
All the time my kids were growing up I forbid to let them out in snowstorms.(in cars, they were free to play outside) Now all are grown and the youngest works in this crap. Every time it starts to snow, he packs up his gear, gets dressed in the multitude of clothing he must wear and heads out. He is usually gone for 12-14 hours, sometimes 20-22 hours. If I could, I would still forbid him!
He gets $12.50 an hour, not bad for a 20 yr. old, and it works out well...classes usually get cancelled when it snows so he's not missing anything. The more it snows, the more money he makes and the more he can afford to go to Sugarloaf to snowboard. This combo makes for a happy snowboarder!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Woke up to a light covering of snow this morning with more predicted over the next 24 hours, mostly New Year's Day with 1-3 inches predicted.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I believe you, Pixie.

Now the sun is shining, the rain has ended, the skies are blue and the landscapers are back to cleaning up down the street.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

The fluffy white stuff in our back yard! Eleanor

Sunny, clear blue skies @ 43 degrees, I'm looking forward to the snowstorm we're going to get in March... go figure.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Where'd you get that long-term forecast, WC?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Hee Hee! gotcha worried there for a sec VG! ☺ Actually I should read the Farmers Almanac, since I get it. It's just a pain to go through all those charts and tables! ugh! Seriously, with the weather patterns changing I've noticed everything starts later and ends later now, I really dont know what to expect anymore. It wouldnt surprise me if we did!

Happy New Year!

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Venice, CA(Zone 10a)

Hey Guys; It's Sunny here and almost 80*F.Yesterday was pretty much the same.I could drive up to Big Bear and be in snow, but I would rather spend time working in my garden.I still have to get the rest of my garlic and gray shallots planted.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Hard to relate!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I'm late, I know, but still have to get my garlic and shallots planted as well. Maybe tomorrow.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

We got 9" of snow and it has finally stopped. It will start again tomorrow afternoon and snow into Wed. morning, we can expect another 5-8".

Here's my poor tree with the huge snowbank around it. We will soon run out of room if this keeps up.

Wow - look at all that! Poor Celeste - you're gonna get cabin fever soon. Hope the pattern changes.

Getting long so I started a new thread. Bring your snow here:

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Booj, what a gorgeous shot that is! Did you get a lot in this last storm? I think we got out just in time!!

Celeste - that is a lovely shot too......you are really having a pile of the pretty white stuff.......your DS must be making money hand over fist, huh?? LOL

Now they are saying that it will get cooler tomorrow here and then it will go down to 32 degrees on Thursday morning..........can't wait! Guess I'll have to cover my impatiens and my neighbor's tomatoes.....hers are right out in the open and they are away. The days get up into the 60s an 70s, so it's good sleeping weather and good gardening weather during the days.

Happy New Year to you all! Ours is a quiet one this year - nice dinner at home and watching old black & white movies.....Fred and Ginger are tripping the light fantastic at the moment.......Bye y'all!!

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Lobster, baby bok choy, Pinot Grigio, Motown and Fred and Ginger, too. Just the 2 of us. Glad you liked the pic. We got about 9 inches and same is predicted for tomorrow night.

41 and sunny - just like Victor! Happy birthday, again, Victor!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Happy New Year everyone. I can't believe the snow everyone is getting. At least the ski resorts are happy. So are the snowmobilers, snow shoers and cross country skiers.

Rain here with 34°, so I am definitely not complaining.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Victor, Happy Birthday, You are the first First I have ever known. What a nice day to celebrate a birthday on with parades, football, hangovers, and seed catalogs. Enjoy and Happy New Year too! Plants galore.

I was in Southern Maine for the weekend and woke up to a winter wonderland yesterday too, but after digging out my friends drive out, I hit the road to come home to no snow in Nantucket. Gorgeous day today. Perfect for some yard work, but I think I will work on my seed orders after going to a truly decadent brunch at the restaurant my DS works for.

Boojum, just two of us too and Lobster from Maine that I got at 2:00 yesterday from our favorite Lobster Guy in Scarborough fresh off his morning run, then I rushed back to the Cape through the First Night traffic in Boston to catch the last plane home and to a great dinner with DH. He had the water boiling. Nothing better. But I was asleep before midnight. My really, really seriously best New Year's wishes to you and D and the real Boojum. xxxoooxxx Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Pirl and Patti (P & P?). 33 and raining here. Glad that we've been spared the big snow so far. The year we bought the house ('95 - '96) was the worst I remember.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Thanks, Patti. We're banking on a wonderful 2008. Our severe storm warning has been reduced so I think that's a good sign for a better year (hated 2007). Didn't see much of my DBF this week cause he was working his new job, but we had a wonderful week with my DD and fiance and my DBF had New Years off. Neat to think of you flying home with your fresh lobsters.

Victor, have a wonderful birthday!!! Stay warm and enjoy your family!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks booj! Happy New Year to you and all. I will be enjoying the day with my family.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Victor, I clearly recall that awful winter. When we arrived home, by car, from Florida we couldn't get in our own driveway. It had to be 2' of snow and that was late in February. I think that was the winter we got 5' of snow.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, we had many storms that year. The day we had to come for the inspection, it was snowing hard and we passed a guy about to jump off the GW bridge. It was a bizarre feeling since we did not see him until we were right there. Luckily there were two cops talking to him and I think they safely rescued him.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Too much shoveling for him, I guess!
