Dave's been "elfed"

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

I found a link for this in another forum. After spending hours "elfing" my own family, I couldn't resist "elfing" Dave too.

Dave, I hope you enjoy this as much as I've enjoyed Davesgarden!

That is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Got to send to my family! Thanks

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Janet. Best one I have seen yet. This years Christmas *thang*.

Lou or Janet, I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Do I need to go back first, choose the pictures and make them smaller. I couldn't get any of the pictures to be small enough?

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

I haven't made one yet but have seen a lot. Some tv station did the news anchors.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

maybe someone computer saavy will come along and tell us, Lou. thanks

Friends of mine sent me themselves "elfed" and I laughed out loud! It works great with Dave because he's got that cute face and those dimples. It's a great fit. Good job, Janet!

If you clicked off when it was finished, go back and watch it again, but just leave it on. Dave comes back for a little encore.

Guess we don't have the Adobe Flash Player on any of our computers ... will have to download it before I can do the elf thing!

It's got me real curious!

Dave was a lot of fun to elf. I had to dig around to find some photos of him looking forward though.

You can use any photo. It helps though to have a "good size" face in the photo to begin with. You can use the sliding scale button to increase or decrease the photo. Then, if necessary, rotate the face to "fit" the hat. The tricky part is using those little dots to cut away the background of the original photo. You can maneuver them quite a bit. As you work, you can "test" the elves. They will say something. I haven't tried adding any voices to the elves. I was too busy making the elves themselves. Moving those little dots helps to make them "cleaner looking". Test it after each one. And if you upload a photo and decide you don't like it afterall, you can just select new photo to erase that one. You can't go back though to take away one of them after it's been saved.

I had so much fun that I wasted the entire morning making elves of my entire family. Then I went to Connie's today and we spent another half an hour making more elves.

Pepper wrote and said she'd had a problem getting the program to work for her. That it wouldn't load properly. I had the same problem when a good friend emailed it to me earlier this week. I found it in the coleus forum, and I finally got it to work.

Here are a few links to some that I did this morning, just in case anyone is having the same problems I did to begin with. I will give this warning though, it's addictive!!!

One thing I would suggest, if you'd like to save your elves, is to email it, either to yourself, or to someone that you know. That gives you a link to go back to.

Good luck folks! I hope this helped... though I'd be willing to bet that all I did was to cause you to spend even more time fooling with it. HAHAHAHA

Thanks, Janet.......
Here I go for the evening and determined to make this happen!

GRRRRR!!! I can't any of them to work. The last one almost worked. The loading wreath stayed up for almost a full second. I'm gonna check my settings and see if there is anything out of the ordinary.

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

Pep, you might try rebooting your machine. I know that folks get tired of hearing that. I cannot figure out why I had such problems before and then this morning a different link worked for me. OTHER than the fact that my computer guy (who happened to have sent the email to me with himself elfed, that I couldn't get to work) put a new router on for me last night and rebooted my machine several times. I never did re-try his link because I'd forgotten all about it until I saw the link on the coleus forum today.

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

I almost forgot. Good luck GessieGail! I hope it works for you

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I tried it last night too and several times before that. lol. I just can't get it. I will try again tomorrow but I have a feeling I won't be able to get it.

Nope. Sorry, that one didn't work either. Maybe my security settings are too high. I'm trying to find that. I changed it not too long ago.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Well, that didn't work either. Changed security and still can't get in. That is really weird.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

its not your settings....................... i think there are too many people using the site at the moment because the page isnt loading for me either

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I have been trying for about a week or so and just can't get in no matter what I do.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Its really funny................. i had all my cats dancing

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

I wonder if you could get their via Office Max's site. Maybe there is a link on their site that would work.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I'll try it.

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

Hubby's been out hunting today. He returned and I showed him the one I made with him on there. He loved it and was truly laughing out loud. I had made one of his brother, his bro's GF and her son. I still needed one more elf, so I included their rat terrier dog. It was adorable and I laughed more watching that little Dinky dog dancing around. He (hubby) told me to be sure and email it to his brother. Well duh, of course I did! HAHAHAHA

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I was in hystrics when i made the cat one..................... the look of disgust on his face!!! LOL

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I still can't get in. I tried it thru their main site and no luck. I don't know what the probelm is!!!

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

It's funny the things that amuse us when we are supposed to be grownups!

This evening, while I was at Connie's house, we made one of her daughter (who's 18 now). She was at home, so before I fired it up, I told Connie to go get her. She walked into the room. She stood behind me sneering at herself, but when I turned around to see the look on her face, it was glowing with a smile. I'd worried that she wouldn't really appreciate it. I worried for nothing. She wanted us to save it so I told Connie to email it to me. That's been the only way I've figured out how to actually save them.

When I made the first one this morning of myself with my grandbabies, I sent it to my Mom. Then I made one of the adults, myself, my hubby, Connie and Mom. I sent that one to her and she said while she enjoyed seeing the grandbabies, she really enjoyed seeing the adults even more.

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

I wonder if there is a Contact Us button that you can write and ask them what you can do to get in.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

pepper, are you on dial up????????????????

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

hmmmmm good thought there Mr K I hadn't thought about that.

(Maggie) Jacksonvill, FL(Zone 9a)

Try a differennt browser. Firefox wouldn't load it. IE will load anything- esp. spam stuff. Netscape sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Maggie

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Maggie

I tried both IE and firefox..................... neither will load it at the moment

(Maggie) Jacksonvill, FL(Zone 9a)

HMMM, I'm having no trouble in IF, FF won't.

Maggie

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Oh............. I will try again then!!

Miami, FL(Zone 10a)

I've been elfing fine in FireFox, but we have cable internet, which is faster than DSL. We've elfed on Windows Me and on Windows XP without a problem.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

All I get is a blue page, nothing more.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

It works now...................................

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I finally figured out how to do it. First I went back to my pictures and cropped their faces first. Then it was easy to upload and use the dots. Thanks

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Whoever designed this for Office Max deserves a bonus for sure.
haven't tried it myself yet but am loving looking at the ones everyone else has made. Happy, happy day!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a Mac and the latest flash software installed, but I can't open it.
Is anyone having the same problem? and if so were you able to solve it?
I feel like I am missing out, Help!
Josephine.
