Favorite Color as a Child

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

On an earlier post, I mentioned that Spring Green was my very favorite color as a child, and still to this day, really is. I like other colors as well, but usually it's because of fads. Green (especially spring green) has always uplifted me and made me feel good. Green reminds me of new beginnings and growth.

A couple of others thought the same thing, and we were wondering how many of you gardeners have always liked Green, and how the color makes you feel.

It would be interesting to know! I look forward to all responses. Are we green freaks? lol

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

I would say that yes, I am a green freak LOL As a kid, I said peach was my favorite color, but as an adult, I tend to gravitate to green more and more. My kitchen is being redone in a grapes and ivy theme, and I agonized over the shade of green I wanted for the walls until I finally settled on one called Willow Wind. I love green (except neon and chartreuse)

2 of my 4 kids are green freaks too :)

they may be future gardeners!

I always loved green and the different hues you could find in green!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Always seemed to like green. Teenage room color I picked was mint green. Paint for this house when moving in, green on the blu gray side. Quilt for first hand-quiltingclass- greens, maroons, pinks. I always seem to end up with pink and green. Love corals and salmon. Mostly a sage-green person now.
Tried to make a blue and yellow quilt last year- goofed up some measurements and have not resumed or dealt with it at all.
Youngest son would pick green food-mint ice cream and green apple flavor.

I like green in nature, but my favorite color is red.

South Milwaukee, WI

I just painted my bedroom a light green and I put up a border with a Monet garden on it. I really like it because it's relaxing. I love it for a room color.
My favorite color is brown. (Maybe because I love getting my hand in the mud). heehee
I like green, but it is not a color for clothes for me. I never looked good in green.
As a kid, I think I liked orange and red.

(Zone 7a)

As a kid, I LOVED red. I still do. Shades of blue/green like the ocean do it for me too.

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

Shades of blue/green or turquoise are one of my favorites. I've always claimed to like orange best of all and when it comes down to the wire, it still is.

As to green, it is such a versatile colour and fits in anywhere.

At one time I liked yellow. My Mom made clowns to set on our curtain rod. My sister's was green. Now I like all the colors, but like blue and charcoal grey best.

My Mom always painted our room pink. Ordinary crayon pink. I got so tired of it. But now I like rose-pink.

Lilesville, NC(Zone 7b)

i would have to say that i tend to wear green alot because of my red hair and it looks good with redheads. So as a child my mom always dressed me in alot of different colors of green. As an adult... i had a bedroom with 2 walls green and 2 walls peach. It was really calming. Now as a adult i have to say my favorite color is pink..why i don't know...I guess since my hubby started calling me princess and with pink being princess, it stuck with me.

As a child I loved red. Now I go more towards blues, blue-greens and blue violet.

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

I love red and all its shades from pink to dark wine. But I love green to because it complements it so well. I live where things are not always real green and being in too much green tends to make me feel closed in. Probably also because when I go to the mountains the trees up there give me asthma attacks. I love the turquoise blue of the sky and that is certainly gone in a lot of places because of pollution. I have been composting for 20+ years and am so glad that it is finally more in the public eye. My Dad read Organic Gardening when I was a child so I was on the bandwagon way before Mr. Gore! ; ) As a child my favorite color changed on a daily basis. I just loved them all. My grandma always planted a variety of zinnias and sunflowers and I loved standing in her yard with all those colors around me and the lovely blue sky overhead.

I see a pattern here, with these posts. To me, Green starts it, and then we get flowers, including pink.

To me green is the START and then produces the colors that we prefer in a bouquet.

Gotta have the green to make it happen.

Thanks everyone! I am with you in spirit.
