How do we permanently delete our old deleted Dmails?

(Cathy), MO

Several of us on another thread are wondering. I'm sure the answer is somewhere in here, but I couldn't find it. The old dmail we have deleted moves into a deleted folder. How do we dump the deleted folder?

We can't, there is a very good reason for it, but it escapes me at the moment. That's why Dave gave us the deleted folder, to keep stuff we no longer care to see cluttering up our inbox.

A dmail isn't like an email, where you have a copy of the correspondence, as does the other party.

Instead, it's more like a private, shared thread between you and the other member. If you deleted the thread, they could no longer access it either.

There used to be a way I got rid of very old d-mails that couldn't possibly ever be of use, but it's gone now. So if I'm still on DG in ten years, all those tons of d-mails will still be there, both in my delete box and in the senders and receivers delete boxes.

I agree it would be nice if there was a way we could delete those we KNOW neither party would want anymore. But, I can live with it! :-)

Unless Dave's running out of storage space on the server I don't know why it's a big deal if the message is actually deleted or just put in the delete folder, either way you don't have to look at it and it's not cluttering up your inbox. But if people really want things totally gone, maybe there could be a way that if both people who were involved in that dmail move it into their deleted folder, then the message could actually be deleted? That way if either person wants to keep the message then it'll stay around, but if both people show they're not interested by moving it to the delete folder then it can be removed.

That would be good, but if not, then I just won't look at my deleted folder. Have a wonderful holday everyone
