song ideas please

Lakeland, MN(Zone 4a)

I am making a photo presentation of my step-father's for his funeral tomorrow. I am trying to think of songs that would be appropriate for background music. I thought I had seen this discussed somewhere here on DG, but can not find it. I am asking for either a link to some discussion about this or some ideas. He loved country western music. Themes for the music could be love, celebration of life or could be religious or other ideas.
Thanks,

Oh, I wish I knew country and western music. When my step father died 4 years ago, i was upset when i heard that my cousin was going to sing a country song.
When we listened to it at the funeral i cried and cried. I can't remember the name but it was something like "You didn't have to be the father you were to me"................We had his favorite hymns, too but that song left everyone in tears. If i can think of it i will come back to youl.

Are you talking about this one? Brad Paisley the song is He didn't have to be. Here is the link for the lyrics. http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/bradpaisley/hedidnthavetobe.html

Brad is a local boy (my grandmother worked with his mother).

God love you, Woofens!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Brad Paisley and you are right about the name of the song. I sobbed as I loved my stepfather so much. After my Dad died when I was 15 my brother and I finished high school and left for college. We were so excited that Mom had met this man we really liked.

During my freshman year in college they married.....and were head over heels in love all those years. He never raised his voice to my brother and me in all those years. (and not to anyone else either)

I can't wait to tell my cousin who sang the song that I know someone who knows Brad Paisley. I have several of his CDs of Christian music. (I download on iTunes from his different albums)

I am going to copy your the words to this song and frame it!!!!!!!!! You just made my day!

Epazota, I hope you find some music you like. You can always download Christian music without the words.........I have many of them from iTunes............

Thank you for all your help and ideas. I was just drawing a blank on how to proceed with the music. I am using several of your ideas.
