Whew, Bebop, that's a lot of snow...no wonder the birdies are all puffed up.
Sybil, congrats on the Creeper, I've never seen one and would have been so excited too!! How much snow are you up to now? I think our chances have about faded away again, looks like it moved a little more north.
Let It Snow!
I don't have any idea how much has fallen. Maybe 12 inches...? We have more coming on Thursday and on the weekend. I loaded up the feeders this afternoon so hopefully everybody will get what they need.
I had never seen one. I didn't know about that bird. It does make me feel good that I have supplied eats for somebody who quite obviously really needed it!
This is the first year since we have lived here that I have put food out for the birds. I was always concerned for the birds' welfare if for some reason I was not able to continue feeding all winter long.
As it has turned out, this is definitely the year to be providing food. The last 4 years have been so mild with so little snow and ice no one wild was suffering for lack of food.
It looks like we missed the snow again, it stayed above freezing here overnight.
I love seeing new birds. I "think" is saw a Pine Siskin this past Sat. but my Dad called, so I wasn't able to take a pic to study. The Eastern Towhee and Hairy WP were new to me this fall so I'm happy :-)
Sybil,
LOL, that's because all the snow came here the last several years, and I'm not kidding either. ;-)
Sadie,
Suppose to get to 17 tonight here. A little later, I'm going to feed the birds and maybe try and get some pics. Suppose to quit snowing around noon.
LOL
sadie - surprising how satisfying it is to find a new bird in your yard, isn't it?
Sybil ~ yes, it sure is! Even better than finding a new gift under the Christmas tree, unless it's a new bird feeder, of course ;-)
Cardinals from this morning. We only got 2-3 inches, but man that wind is whipping now!
The Cardinals are always so pretty against the contrast of the snow.
I saw 2 whole snow flakes when I was out for lunch and I hope that's all I see!
Beautiful Cardinals!
Oohhhh - so cold those Dove toes!
Nice looking Cardinal pics!
Nice M. Dove pic!
I saw 2 whole snow flakes when I was out for lunch and I hope that's all I see!
That's two more than I've seen!
Nice pics Marilyn!
Thanks Pelle, Alot of the photos I took didn't come out as well thru the window and these were some of the best.
Here is a St. Francis bird feeder I got from Gardeners Supply
http://www.gardeners.com/St-Francis-Birdfeeder/default/StandardCatalog.20762.36-147.cpd
A GF is getting some seeds (mixed) on it and two of his/her buddies are on the mesh thistle feeder.
Very nice Marilyn!
Thanks Pelle!
Marilyn ~ nice pics, I really like your new St. Francis statue!
Wonderful pics Marilyn. Not too much snow to contend with! :)
I so envy you those Cardinals.
I was looking forward to pics of birds in that globe cage feeder. Very cute!
It's below zero cold here this morning. Got my new Sorel boots so I'm ready! LOL
Thanks Sadie!
Thanks Sybil!
Thanks Nanny!
;-)
Too cute Nanny!
