Adelbertcat,

Wonderful!!! So happy for you! Junco's are so sweet and adorable!

Thanks adel! I always look forward to your pics as I was born and raised in Cal. I spent my high school years in Sacto but was never any farther north. DH went to Klamath Falls, Oregon right out of high school and spent some time there before he was drafted into the Army. That was many many moons ago!! I have only been bird watching since we retired from dairying in May of this year. Oh my goodness...what a whole new world this is for me. I am very anxious now to take some trips and see what I can see now that I no longer have tunnel cow vision.

Here is one of the little WBN that won't set still for me!

Thanks again, adel!

Nice pics dellrose!
The Red-bellied Woodpecker is one of my favorites along with the White-breasted Nuthatch. Thanks for posting them!

adel that IS alot of Juncos!! Maybe their coming down from Washington & Oregon due to the storms.?

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Adel..I have to admit I don't remember ever seeing a Junco when I lived in Cal but I think I saw one in the yard yesterday. I would go nuts if I saw over 40 of them!

I don't know what I did to that last pic of the WBN...duh...pilot error! Here is a cute little Goldfinch...I hope!

Rose,

Your 4 pic photo is great! Love the subject!

Pelle,

You got to show/tell me how to do it please.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thank you Marilyn..I want to take good pics so bad and am thrilled (as thrilled as a 62 year can get anyway) when one turns out well. On the Camera Forum there is a thread that Dinu started and they talk about the collage. I will try and get you a link...it is worth the read and I sure learned a lot from it.

Rose,

I didn't know there was a camera forum, but thanks for telling me. I'll have to look into it. Maybe I can find the thread you're referring to.

Thanks!

Oh, I forgot..... on rainy days you organize the photos on you computer!!!!

Hebron, KY

First one - male House Finch
Second and Third one - male Downy.

The beak and the body of the WP look to be on the small side, so I think it is a male Downy. The beak of the Hairy is as long as the head is wide. Downy is about 6" and Hairy is about 9".

Brainerd, MN

those are Downy's. Hairy's are about twice the size. I don't know what the purple one is - I want to say purple house finch but I really don't know.

Great photos and marvelous attempts at masking our group dysfunction! LOL

Hebron, KY

Sybil,

I thought it was more red on the House Finch, but I could be wrong. ;-)

Marlton, NJ

Very nice pics!

Yes its a Downy WP notice the black spots on outer tail feathers in second pic.

First pic is either House Finch or Purple Finch; I'll need to go get my glasses.

Brainerd, MN

Here's a link to a purple finch. Does that look like your bird?

I am still learning here

Just testing if I get it right. I've forgotten to right this down every time I run across it. Let's see if it works.

Great addition, thanks.
